Is it too early to decorate for the Holidays?
 
What is wrong with me this year? I am in such a holiday spirit! I want to decorate my apartment and be festive! If I could I'd have freakin' bells on my feet!

When do you put up holiday decorations?

I don't put up decorations and I don't tolerate them until after Thanksgiving. ;)

i usually put it the day before thanks giving but this year i think im putting it already :D

I glad you feel that way, it a great feeling when your in the mood. It will take me a bit longer this year to get into the holiday spirit. I'm so tired all the time and the days are slipping away. It scares me to think its right around the corner and I didn't even start my shopping yet. When my kids were yong I had most of my shopping don't by Thanksgiving, and all that was left to do was a christmas tree and lights..
As far as is it too early!! I don't think so, but most people wait until after Thanksgiving day! But the longer you wait the colder it will be in New York!!

i have thanksgiving/fall deco out. will put out xmas deco on thanksgiving evening...i love the holidays...already changed my sig...

I dont think is too early, if you are in the mood go for it. I think people usually start around Thanksgiving.

I think if you are ready, then you go ahead and start. I am OBSESSED with the holidays but I don't usually have time to decorate until the day or two after Thanksgiving. I am usually more excited than I am this year, but the thought of it just makes me feel a little more stressed than normal. I'm sure once school is out everything will be okay. ;)

I'm with you... I feel the need to start decorating too. So I'm thinking while the weather is still 60 degrees that I may put up my outside lights. I dont like seeing them on til after Thanksgiving, so this year I will be ready.

There are tons of houses in my neighborhood who have their house totally decorated with lights and everything for Christmas weeks before Thanksgiving. We don't have any sort of contests going on around here, so not sure why?? That's too early in my opinion. I thnk it would feel funny to go to a person's house on Thanksgiving that is all decorated with lights and a blow up Santa outside when you're eating Thanksgiving turkey and watching football games. :)

no it is not too early.....If they can play Christmas commercials on TV before Halloween and start advertising for it in stores...you can put it up. Go on ahead...shoot, i think I will too!!!

When I was a kid my family always went and bought a christmas tree the friday after thanksgiving and then decorated it over the weekend. We have a fake now because of living in apartments and because of our cat. We are going to be out of town over thanksgiving so I would imagine we will decorate the next weekend. My mom always says she can't go christmas shopping til it snows. It just doesn't feel right. I however, wanna get it done as soon as possible I've already started buying presents. My husband can't get into it however, until after his birthday 11/13 and then he'll be all about getting presents bought too. My parents are total christmas eve shoppers. They close down the stores christmas eve eve & christmas eve. They're crazy there is no way I could deal with those crowds.

I've started decorating. I'm excited about getting a Christmas tree because for the past years my hubby and I go out of town to visit family over the holidays and never got around buying a Christmas tree since we got married. Pretty sad, huh? So I'm kinda giddy about it now.

Maybe I'm excited becuase this is the first time I"ve ever decorated for Christmas! I've always lived close to my mom so I always went to her house! This year she is coming up from Ohio to spend Christmas with me and the monkeys!

A woman that I work with had an extra tree so she is giving it to me! Simon and Hallie have stockings and ornaments (first Christmas, second Christmas, new home--for Hallie last year) but I do not have nearly enough decorations for what I have planned in my head! I'm going shopping next week for some stuff! I'm so excited, my apartment is probably going to look like a hodgepodge but I'll post pics anyway ;)

We always go home for thanksgiving. I try to have the tree up sometime the week after we get home, no later than the following weekend. I always take it down the weekend after the new year.

Its never too early to start decorationg!!!! Who cares what anyone thinks!!! If you are ready now, well, by all means decorate now!!!! I am startin this weekend!!!! My hubby thinks I am nuts!!!! I have sooo much stuff that I need a week or 2 to do all my decorating!!! And I never have a Thanksgiving get together or anything, so I start early!!!! Its nice to know that you are in the spirit, when soo many despise the holiday!!!! I love the Holidays!!!!!

HOWEVER... :confused:

PLEASE take down the lights and decor around New Years! I mean people who have them on the house ALL YEAR LONG drive me crazy... :mad: That is just laziness... :thumbdown

Not sure when it will happen this year. Last year my husband and I went out on a "Date". When we came home, the kids had the house all done. I guess they couldn't wait. :D

Right now I have my fall decorations out. The day after Thanksgiving I do the outside and some inside. We don't do the tree until the week before Christmas.

We decorate the interior of our home a few days before Thanksgiving because it takes me a while to decorate the entire house. I don't put up the Christmas tree or exterior decorations until the day after Thanksgiving, and I always make sure to put everything away a few days after New Year's.
