Some jerk is stealing our pics off craigslist bf and I are each at our own shop. We share some of the same pics, bc we are the same company. Now there is a guy stealing our pics and posting them as his! Should I confront him about it? What would you guys do? Plus my ads keep getting ghosted while other people ads are able to post and top post several times a day. clearly they are able to get around some of the bots on there, and I don't, so I'm getting frustrated. |
Is there some kind of administrator that you could report this to? I would be afraid to confront this person because you never know what they would to to retaliate. |
LOL an admin on craigslist? CL is a self governing anarchy. I hate it, but a lot of people read the ads, i have no choice but to use them. You're right about the retaliation. It's become very clear that some of our competitors have come into our shop and stole some of our marketing ideas as well. Wording just a little too similar to what we use for it to be just a coincedence. Some of these people are so dumb. They keep trying to sell their product for the lowest price, and then another shop matches it, and then they lower again. If all the shops just would not go under a set price, we would all make more money, and the customers can just shop in thier own neighborhood instead of driving all over the place to save a few bucks. Doesn't make any sense. and another thing! Why are people upset when i don't have a color that they want in stock? Did they really think they could start their xmas shopping today and the stores wouls still all be fully stocked? |
I don't know much about craiglist, and I don't know what "ghosted" means. I would make a formal sounding letter, and send it to the person, who stole you pictures, but I don't really know the rules on the web for pictures, do you know how to watermark them? That might give you more power in the future. Sorry, people are so unreasonable over the holidays, you need so much patience to deal with last minute Christmas Shoppers. Happy Holidays! :D |
1) watermark you images 2) send a formal cease and decist letter to the other parties 3) mention in your ad that these are your own actual pictures 4) hire a professional posting service to keep your ads visible 5) quality will sustain in the long run and your competitors who use stolen images will move on to another opportunity. Let a professional poster handle your ads and try not to let what you cannot control be so upsetting (easier said than done) |
Thanks guys! Very helpful. I didn't really think about watermarking, and come to think of it, bf has been photographing the NEW stuff with a poster with our logo and of course those have not been stolen. Nancy, ghosting, as I believe it means, is that in my account page, the ad is shown as live and active, yet when you go to search for it it never shows up. If I can't find it, then others can't either, and it becomes a big waste of time. |
I'm sorry you are going through this! I was going to suggest that you watermark your images as well. Is it someone you know that is stealing your photos? Or would it be confronting them via email? Either way I think I'd at least say something to them. |
Watermarking the image is the most you can do. If your Craigslist ads are ghosting you should change the title of the ad, the content and save your images under different file names and reupload them. It's also very possible that you are overusing your account. Do you have multiple accounts? How many ads per day are you posting? What section? |
I would send the guy a very strongly worded cease and desist letter. I would also definitely watermark all of your photos from now on. It's really simple to do in Photoshop Elements. |

i asked around in the help forum and those people are no help. You guys think we have trolls here, you should check out CL help forum, OMG those losers really have nothing better to do. So after some very rude answers from them, apparently if you log in/out in different accts it kind of blocks you and that is uncommon. So I said I have one computer in the house, and four adults that all use the same computer. We all have our own accts for email, ebay, banking, etc, so why not CL? Is that uncommon for 4 people under one roof to have 4 differnet CL accts? No answer. Apparently they are all rich and each adult has their own computer, so they never have to log in or out. |

The watermark should help with the stolen photo issue. Craigslist can be very frustrating. I used to do craigslist affiliate marketing for 5 years before having my website. Just keep at it. |
