Any Digital Scrapbookers HELP!
 
I decided to start digital scrap booking, and really want to know what software i should use. I really do not want photoshop (to much time needed). But I have been looking at these two programs perhaps.

I digital scrapbook. I mostly use Creative Memories Story Book Creator Plus 3.0. I love the program. I was slow to get started because digital kind of scared me, but once I got started, I am totally addicted to digital. When I started, I just decided with each page I was going to learn a new technique. Here are some of my pages. I keep mine pretty simple, but the sky is the limit with digital, if you can think it, you can create it.

I started with the Creative Memories, too. But then I graduated to Photoshop Elements just because of the availability of png files. I like the flexibility of PSE, but do sometimes go back to CM when I want some quick pages.

I have PSE too, and I do like it. I just have not graduated to that level yet. I learn a new trick on it, and walk away from it, then can't remember when I come back how I did something. I just don't play with it enough, but definitely like the more advanced features of it.

Try looking for tutorials on youtube. That's the only way I've been able to learn how to do anything on it. It took me forever mastering clipping masks until I found a video on it.

Okay so I just bought the Serif Digital scrapbook Artist. I wish I would have seen you reply about Creative Memories :( I decided on the Serif because it came with a 15 dollar gift card to Daisy Trails to buy more backround and stamps and such. Have you eve purchased extra . I read a lot of bad review that they do not have alot of templates and you need to purchase more, I think their called Digikits
Do you have anyexperience with this? I also read where you can find a lot of the Digikits for free online. Any input would be appreciated. I am making my boyfriend and family member a album of vacations and such and want this to come out nice :)

I wish I was good enough for photo shop. I am really not good at this whole artsy thing, and I talked to a friend that uses photoshop and she said you really design EVERYTHING in photoshop. I do not think I have the patience really to do that. Hopefully One Day :)

It won't take you long to start developing a "feel" for how you want your pages to look. Once you do, designing them will be a snap. One of the reasons I liked PSE was because I could find page templates on line that give me the basic layout, but then let me customize the back grounds, titles, frames and everything else. It helps to give a coordinated look to an album. Plus there are a lot of sites that offer free .psd and .png files, I think I have bought a total of 2 kits for the PSE because I can tweak just about everything to a different color to match what I need.

What ever software you use, you are going to have a blast doing it. It's highly addictive. For printing, I've found that it's more cost effective for me to have costco.com print the pages than to do it myself. They can do a 12x12 page for 2.99 and an 8x10 for 1.99.

Creative Memories does give you the ability to import digikits from other artists, and I have imported quite a few. I do go out online and look for free art a lot because I do use CM products over and over, but sometimes I just want to add a little something different. I sometimes like to just use a predesigned template and sometimes when I am feeling really artsy, I too like to start with an empty page and create it all from scratch. Really, with digital if you can imagine it, you can. Oh, and with CM, their artwork is an additional fee after you purchase the software.

Okay Thanks :) It comes in the mail soon! I know that I read there is free and both you have to pay. I am getting excited and hoping I do not get bored of it. I use to scrapbook by hand and would get half way done and so fed up with it. Especially if it was not coming out "perfect" so I hope this is going to be a great alternative :p
