What to give something Special this Christmas? Hi everyone! Want to do something special this year?.... our pastor at church made a suggestion/challenge... it is time to give... with our HEARTS!! try to do something for someone that is not expecting it this year..... like give that single mom waitress that serves you breakfast every Saturday a $20 tip, or stop in at the local assisted living home with a fruit basket...... open the door for an older person at the grocery store and wish them a Merry Christmas... THEN help them pack their groceries to the car! Pay for the person behind you in line at the movies or buy an extra popcorn for the couple next to you....... it is a great way to let your faith in the Lord shine!!!!! This kind of thing don't happen enough...... you should have seen the look on this elderly gentlemans face when I purchased his groceries at the grocery store..... Priceless!!! ..... Try it!!!! |
That is such a wonderful thing to do. Sometimes something like that is just what someone needs to brighten their day. Many times we don't know if someone is going thru a difficult time, and a thoughtful gesture will mean so much to them. |
Very nice ideas. Thank you for sharing. |
What a good reminder. I'm a big fan of anonymous giving -- I still do believe in Santa Claus and like to help him out every once in a while. There are so many people who aren't well-off this year it isn't very hard to find someone to help. I also like to invite "singles" to join my family for our traditional Christmas eve spaghetti feast... I hate to see anyone spend the holiday alone and each one who has come has added so much to our celebration. There are always college students who couldn't afford to travel home for Christmas, empty nesters whose kids are too far away... This year we only have two special guests coming so far but we can always throw a little more spaghetti in the pot! |

My roomate always picks up sock, hats, gloves, plastic tarps, blankets, sleeping bags etc and goes out Christmas eve and hands them out to the homeless he finds. Sadly in LA there are a lot of homeless people. I help him gather and give out his presents and include care packages of food. It is better to give. The joy you get is so wonderful. |
