I have no faith in the future. so my 16 year old sister has a guinea pig and we decided because it is so afraid of the dog we would find it a new home. After getting several responses i decided to keep the poor thing and keep it in the basement (finished basement with brand new carpet so I'm not allowed to have animals down there ) the first woman seemed really nice until I told her she could not have the $80 cage for free it was not mine so i could not sell it. "I cannot believe that are charging $10 for a guinea pig and not including a cage" the next few people just did not seem to understand the diet needs of guinea pigs (you have to give them vitamin c because they do not produce it on there own) then they next person told me they would be feeding it to there snake when i refused to sell they had my ad pulled for 3 days for false advertising then i had a young kid who really wanted another little boy guinea so he could have piggie fights (like dog fights but with guinea pigs then the last person seemed nice they wear looking for a male guinea pig for there daughter when i spoke to them some more i found out they wanted to breed them(they already had a girl) to teach there daughter responsibility. what has the world come to. |
Wow -- you sure ran the gamut of irresponsible pet owners vying for your little guinea pig! Wish you were in VA. My granddaughter lost her little guinea pig and has been sort of mourning him. She really bonded with that little thing. She had it a very long time so it may have passed from old age. I never got into the rodents myself but know enough from my pups that you don't really appreciate the potential of a pet until you do bond with them. |
Wow! Those people are unbelievable! You could get the G Pig spayed first... |

It is to bad i was just looking for someone to give him a responsible home. I would never have thought of it but we have no doors in our house(the person who owns it removed them all before we moved in) and the dog scares him to death |

I often wonder what the world is coming to. Especially when I catch a daytime program or two. Crazy stuff, crazy people. Don't give up, I'll bet there is someone out there who would love to have a sweet guinea pig. Some people aren't animal lovers and shouldn't have any. Best wishes to you and the guinea pig.:) |
The vet i take him to would charge me 115 for the neuter and still strongly advises against it. I only paid 25 for him I would rather just find him a nice home with no other piggies because he is sorta aggressive(maybe because of the dog) |
I wouldn't bother neutering him. How about an elementary school? Would a classroom take him as a class pet for observation and classroom responsibility? Of course the teacher would be the key here, because she would be the real owner. |
Wow you sure got some crazy bad pet owners there! Im so glad you care enough not to give him up to those kind of people, because Im sure some people would give him to anyone just to get rid of him. So its good that you care enough to find him a GOOD home. :) I like the school idea, I know when I was at school (high school) our science teacher had two chinchillas. We wern't allowed to really get them out or touch them (unless the teacher held them) but they were a nice addition to the class. |
