HUGE gamers here. My son and myself play everything. We have Wii, PS3, and the X-box, DS-lites, and PSP's. We cannot wait until LBP-2 comes out...Little Big Planet One was awesome. We are also huge Mario Kart Worldwide fans.....we are definitely addicted. :D |
I would definitely get the bigger hard drive. Its amazing how fast you use 4g. A lot of games have updates and add-ons you can download. Not to mention if you play a lot of games, you want the space to save all your games. |
Well, I went ahead and ordered one. I'm pretty pumped! I would love to play video games guilt free, and maybe even lose a few pounds. |
Post a review when you get it. :) |
My son loves his XBox 360. He did not take it to college and he said he had withdrawals! :D He gets into the games he can play online with lots of his friends like Call of Duty. I was thinking of getting him that Kinect accessory for body moement recognition for Christmas. They have gotten so realistic and some of the interactive ways the player shapes the game are amazing! I am already on the computer too much so I have resisted the urge to go try out his games. Someday maybe....... |
Okay, so I've had it for a few days now. First of all, it is TIRING! I don't know if I'm really out of shape or what, but I can only play for about ten minutes at a time. My shoulders are killing me. I've promised myself I will only play the kinect from now on - no video games sitting on my butt. It's only been a few days, but it seems to be working. I still have the urge to play computer games, but knowing that I have the kinect is enough to stop me -- even though I am too tired to play it most of the time. It's definitely first gen software. You spend a fair amount of time standing around, waiting for it to process your position, and if you move at all during that time, it will completely misread your movements. Like, you'll wave your hand, and it shows your avatar attempting a summersault. It also resets every time you use it and the navigation is confusing. Overall though... I love it. There's one game where you can fly by flapping your arms, and it's ridiculously fun. Also, the little bits of intense exercise seem to improve my mood quite a bit. I feel like I can take on the world after I've used it. I'll keep posting and let you guys know how I feel about it after I've played on it some more. |

No, I think it's just that I do zero arm exercise, so that's where I'm feeling the pain. It detects foot movements, torso movement, head movement, and jumps. Several games require you to put your knees on the floor. The 3D aspect needs a little work - since the detection range is small, if you need to step forward, a lot of time you'll step out of the tracking zone. I should mention that I'm about six feet away from the sensor, which is "good" - it would be better if I could get eight. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I don't need a ton of room to play. I don't have a particularly big living room, but I'm fine as long as I move the coffee table out of the way. If I really wanted to, I could re-arrange my furniture and get the ideal playing space. Again, overall - LOVE IT. |

You'd think I'd be stronger, given how I have to beat away Thor's admirers... but no. I have weak, flabby arms. I can run up five flights of stairs like it's nothing, though. ;) |
Has it really only been two weeks? My life pre-xbox seems so very far away. I am definitely getting into better shape, and I've lost several inches without even trying. I don't even play it every day. I have kind of a love/hate thing with the controller. On certain games, the body detector is SUPER sensitive, and it keeps losing my frame in the middle of the game. It's maddening. However, I am super stubborn, and I insist on playing over and over and over again until I went through it. I've gone for over two hours, and been furious the entire time. I just got the dance game, which everyone seems to love. I always really enjoyed Dance Dance Revolution, so I'm looking forward to trying this. :) |
The dance game is awesome and so stinkin funny. I am 40 and have no rhythm at all and I play this.... all I can say is thank goodness I had the bladder hammock done cause I would have been peeing in my pants laughing...lol:D |
Okay, it's been a month now, so I can officially say, I LOVE MY KINECT! It is so relaxing to play it. It is the perfect solution for annoying work stress. It works out your body, so you get all your tension out, but it's just silly fun, so it gives your brain a break. It's so much better than a "real" workout, because it doesn't require any mental discipline. You exert yourself because you want to surf clouds, fight tropical fish, and get points, but once you want to stop, you stop. There's no need to push yourself to do it because it's good for you. You want to do it because it's fun. I feel better *every single time I play*. Not most of the time, *every* time. I've also either gotten in better shape, or understand the games better, so I can play for thirty minutes + every day. I haven't even tried the dance game yet! |
