Color washed walls...... Has anyone had this done or you did it yourself?......If so what colors did you use?....I'm looking to use earthtone colors........I was thinking of a cream base with maybe a glaze of raw umber. I'm toying with the idea of adding in a little of a metallic glaze, maybe in a bronze or a gold..... But then I like the olive greens too....hmmmm...Just not sure how that would work, I don't want it to look busy or muddy....... I did my kitchen many years ago in light yellow/ gold with a raw umber glaze so I would like to do this again in the mud/laundry room...... Any up close pic's would be nice if anyone has any.....:) |
My friend does this really well. I'm thinking of doing some rooms in my home soon like this. I love the look - if it's done right.;) |

I can ask her. She's told me forty times what colors she used in one room and I always forget the names! Have you googled it or checked to see if they have something about the colors to use on either hgtv.com or diy.com?:D |
I've been doing that for days. Not too many give the actual color names or the colors are too vibrant for what I'm looking for.......If the colors combination is wrong then the result will not be good......I've only done one other time and it came out pretty good...I only used two colors I want to try three this time...... I just love the look of the walls with the veins resembling cracks in them or the build up of color in the corners near the ceiling and inside corners resembling age or dirty walls!......Who would think a person would want dirty looking walls...lol |
Can you stop by a home center and pick up some scraps of sheetrock and experiment on them? |
I have some of that here....It's trying to narrow down the colors...I don't want a bunch of quarts of paint sitting around and I need just the right combo of colors......I'm just not sure what to use with the raw umber glaze to be able to use two glazes??? |
