Meet my new neighbor.... 4 Attachment(s) A coyote. He/she been lurking around for the last couple of weeks. The photos were taken right off my deck. No more than 50 ft away. Kindof scary but I hear they're more scared of us?? Let's hope so! Attachment 330549Attachment 330550Attachment 330551Attachment 330552 |
They may be scared of us, but they will dodge in a grab a smaller dog in seconds flat. Be VERY careful!! |
We have coyote warning near me all the time in the newspaper. They will definitely stalk, hunt and kill our dogs. It has happened near me many time. :( Recently, there was an article in our local newspaper about a coyote that lured a Lab away from the house by being playful. Once he was away from the house the pack attacked and killed him :( I live in the suburbs of Chicago in a very populated area. Please be very careful with your pups. |
OMG, I would be scared to death. Ok, here in WV we have bear...but nothing like that. Be careful....button down the hatch..don't go out on the deck, close all doors, shutter close your windows. ;) LOL, just teasing ya. Do be careful with you babies though. |
Ohhhh My!! That is a bit scarey.... |
He's pretty .... but scarey! About a month ago, someone tried to give my husband a critter that was half Great Pyrenese (great guard dogs) and half coyote. The guy lives in a rural area and has a chicken house. Apparently whenever coyotes are howling in the area, this hybrid goes and stands guard in the chicken house, all the while howling along with the coyotes. I guess he is confused, but at least he guards the chickens. When he runs in there and starts howling, that's gotta really rattle the chickens! |
Scary to have them that close, although they probably are very often but we don't see them. Luckily we don't have them in Hawaii (I don't think??), but in Arizona they killed by 2 cats. Keep your furkids safe! |
 oh no:( |
Scary. We saw one about a month ago right behind our house. We live in a populated area and the coyote was on the school property that backs up to out house. I am always looking around when I am out back with my babies. Last year 2 poms were killed by a coyote in the subdivision next to ours. |

We have them too and until I saw your post, I tried not think about them too much. I googled to find some coyote deterrents and found this article on the Colorado division of wildlife website and thought it was pretty interesting - it talks about how to make your yard less attractive and some other tips like what to do if confronted by a coyote and some suggestions for protecting pets. One thing that freaks me out is that they can jump and scale a 6' fence. Coyotes also may be infected with canine distemper, canine parvovirus and sarcoptic mange along with a whole lovely bunch of parasites including heartworms and other worms! Here is the article link -- http://www.cpngov.com/safety/docs/20...deterrents.pdf |

I heard from my neighbors that they found some collars from cats and some dogs. I'm assuming the coyotes got to them. |
We have a terrible coyote problem in our neighborhood. I am attaching a link of a service we are considering using to get them removed. Look at the pictures, a majority of these were caught withing 5 miles of my home (sorrry for the annoying music on this site). Coyote |
I'm just waiting for them to show up here and I live in an inner city neighborhood in MA. We have racoons, opossums, and skunks in our back yard, which worries me because you never know if their infected, but I always am afraid a coyote will be next! Be careful! |
I think they are beautiful but scare me when it comes to my girls. We can sit out in the evenings and sometime hear them in the distance. Be careful with your furfamily |
Yikes! It would definitely scare me with both my skin and fur babies! |
