What does it mean when your eyelids twitch? Old chinese superstition says if you're a girl and the left one twitches it's bad luck, and the right would be good luck. and opposite for guys. My left eye's been twitching like crazy and bf's right one has been too. Are we doomed? But really, stress? dehydrated? what? it's annoying the crap out of me! |
My left eyelid will twitch on occaision as well. It bothered me enough, so I looked it up and found out it is usually caused by stress or being over tired. Eyelid twitch: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia Interesting comment about the bad luck thing for women though. I sure have had some bad luck lately. Things that make you go hmmm.... |
Eye strain gets mine twitching. I go through periods of time when they seem to twitch all the time then I don't notice it at all for months. They haven't twitched in a long time now. Hope I don't induce it by thinking about it. :D |
I think stress and being over tired will do it. |
A few years ago I had a twitching eye for about a week when I finally broke down and went to my doctor he said it was the cause was usually unknown and I should first try to drink some tonic water (he said I could have Gin with it which of course I did). Guess what it worked like a charm. |
Well, I have going to have to try that remedy. My right eye twitches all the time. I always thought it was stress related. It drives me Crazy when it does that! |
Mine twitches when I am sleep-deprived, and it's almost always my left eye. So looks like I'm prone to bad luck too. |
My right eye twitches all the time. I thought it was stress, but maybe I'm just very lucky, and very unappreciative of it. |
I agree with posts above: stress, dehydration, and fatigue. Luck sounds a lot better though, the good luck that is. |
Too bad I don't like gin! Even smelling it makes me want to barf! No twitching today though! |
For me, allergies can cause my eye to twitch - it's so annoying and it happens 24 hours a day when the pollen counts are high. I found that taking antihistamines and using antihistamine eye drops really can stop it from happening. Benadryl works the best for me but I am asleep for two days if I take it so I usually try something else like zyrtec D unless I am desperate. The drops are great though too. |
I've noticed it happens most often when I'm stressed from work and lack of sleep (thinking about work). |
I heard it was dehydration. I did go through bouts of this and did not notice that drinking more water made it better really.... but I do it anyways. Its probably either dry or tired(strained) from computer or tv viewing. |
Good question, I get it too, but very rare:rolleyes: |
Another reason of eye twitching is high intake of caffeine. I can feel it too sometimes. |
