Chicago and Midwest Folks hope you all make it thru this wind storm with no problem. Ohare and Midway are pretty much shut down. This is supposed to keep up thru tomorrow. Figures, I am leaving (hopefully) tomorrow afternoon for TX. So far the power is on, but the trees are loosing branches and the leaves are blowing. Glad we took in all the patio and outdoor stuff Sunday. Now, where the hell are my garbage cans? if maxine had wings, she could fly today. The wind howling has both of them a bit spooked. Just took them out, Maxine did not go, came in, pee'd on a Wool Oriental in the family room. Marge is mad at me for not watching her! I can't win. |
It's not that bad in Tinley Park. It's windy not like what I was anticipating. My husband came home from work and said the other drivers were all singing this song. |
Stay safe you all! Steve - I'm hoping your flight isn't delayed and your trip is successful. Also, hope your garbage cans are found and Marge can forgive you about the rug. LOL...Jodi....you have a video for every occasion:D. We had the same winds yesterday and through most of the night. I put rocks in my pockets to weigh me down while I walked the dogs.....otherwise, I just might have been sitting on one your doorsteps this morning!:p:eek: |

Ahh I live in Chicago! Its so windy here but right now its calmer but I heard the wind is supposed to pick up more later tonight 50 mph winds yikes! Good luck everyone and try to not blow over hehe :D |
Its windy here but better than this morning when we had a tornado warning. It did blow around some of my halloween stuff that was on the porch but that was the extent of it here. There were trees and power lines down in other places in Indy |

Storm blows in, impaling driver, hurting travel, closing schools :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Metro & Tri-State Among the storm's effects in Chicago and the suburbs, it: • Prompted the Willis Tower to close its Skydeck observatory and pull in “The Ledge” attraction. The Ledge’s four glass boxes, which jut out from the building’s 103rd floor, were retracted as a precaution. • Led the Chicago Park District to close the Lincoln Park Conservatory on the North Side and the Garfield Park Conservatory on the West Side because of safety concerns due to their glass roofs. • Prompted the cancellation of hundreds of flights at O’Hare Airport, which caused a travel ripple felt nationwide. • Spawned a possible tornado that touched down in Peotone. • Prompted a temporary ban on semi-trucks pulling double trailers or other oversized loads on the Indiana Toll Road. • Closed some schools. • Caused gusts topping 50 miles an hour in many places, reaching as high as 61 miles an hour in Naperville. • Caused power outages, mostly in the west suburbs. There was a jackknifed semi on I80 right behind my house this morning that had the west bound lanes totally shut down. Our power has gone out a couple of times for a few minutes today already. |
I hope you guys get through the winds better than we did here in the middle of Missouri. The winds started about 1:00 am and actually blew my 6 foot high wooden back yard gate off the hinges right beside my bedroom!!. The winds also blew open one of our pasture gates that was fastened with a latch, chain, and bungie cord (we have horses and this pasture borders a highway so we have always triple latched it). Of course 2 horses were out in my neighbor's yard at 6:00 am, thank goodness we were home and hubby thought to go check on them. The horses were pretty upset by the wind but since they had halters on (usually don't) they were easy to lead home. We don't have any trees down but my neighbors do and things were thrown around in most people's yards. By the time I get home tonight I expect all the pretty autumn leaves to be off my maple trees. I guess I'll get some exercise this weekend raking leaves :) Teresa |
We've had some wild weather down here as well! Lower Alabama has caught h#&& with tornados! Just a few miles up the road from my house a twister touched down and ripped up a house trailer and barns and all sorts of out buildings. Midtown Mobile had a tornado touch down right at an intersection at Azalea and Michael Blvd. yesterday morning. Tore up several businesses and was graded an EF1. Hopefully the bad stuff has now passed-we still need more rain, tho-- |

Stay safe all. Have a good trip, Steve. This little pig when to market, this little piggy stayed home............this little piggy met Steve, bye bye piggy. |
We certainly had some wind today also, all the way down in Kentucky. Lost our electricity and our internet service for hours. |
My house is set back on the cul de sac and everyone's and I mean everyone's leafs, garbage cans bird feeders are in my front yard. Steve, I'll look and see if your garbage cans are in my yard lol Pixie took one look outside when I opened the slider and looked at me like I was crazy if I thought she was going out in that! Hopefully it won't be so bad tonight. Stay safe everyone. |
*Small Dog Warnings* for another day. It's still blowing here. I can hear Lk Michigan roaring here in the house and we're a couple of miles inland by Muskegon Lake. We went out there and the waves were 10-15's this afternoon. Hope everyone is safe. |
Still blowing real good in the NW burbs! |
It was garbage day here today. There are garbage cans everywhere. |
