new low in email scam Got this today. Feel it is a new low to say from American soldier. Important message from an American soldier in Iraq Good day, My name is Sgt.Gordon Miller Frawley, I am an American soldier, I am serving in the military of the 1st Armored Division in Iraq, as you know we are being attacked by insurgents everyday and car bombs. We managed to move funds belonging to Saddam Hussein's family. The total amount is US$25 Million dollars in cash, mostly 100 dollar bills, this money has been kept somewhere outside Baghdad for sometime but with the troop withdrawal by president Barack Obama, we are afraid that the money will be discovered hence we want to move this money to you for safe keeping pending the completion of our assignment here as we are among those that will remain till next year. You can go to this web link to read about events that took place there:then via this site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2988455.stmwe are ready to compensate you with good percentage of the funds, No strings attached, just for you to help us move it out of Iraq. Iraq is a war zone,so we plan on using diplomatic means in shipping the money out as military cargo using diplomatic immunity. If you are interested I will send you the full details, my job is to find a good partner that we can trust and that will assist us. Can I trust you? When you receive this letter, kindly send an e-mail to sgtgfral021@hotmail.com signifying your interest including Your most confidential telephone numbers for quick communication also yourContact details. This is risk free. With regards from, Sgt.Gordon Miller Frawley. |
That is a new low. I have no words for it. |
Disgraceful! |
I have had several of those over the last year or so - all from different "soldiers" - also had some of the ones supposedly from the FBI director etc. Luckily they all go to my "unknown senders" box or "junk mail" so I don't download them to my mailbox. |
I have had this same scam email tons of time all in different forms, I have had its a relatives money, or goverment money or royal money or whatever. But I have never had the soldier one.. it really is sick. These brave men are risking their life for their country and sick scammers use that story for their own personal gain. They should be ashamed of there selves. |
That is the lowest I have seen. I get so many of these money scams and think, "Does anyone EVER fall for them?" But the sad thing is that they must, or so many would not be trying them. I have to believe the scammers will get their comeuppance one day. |
Fyi If you call your provider , they have an email acct that you can foreword those to . That's how they find and prosecute these people. I almost fell of my chair one day a few years back when I sat down to check my emails and someone had sent child porn to my inbox . I called the Police to ask what to do about/with it and they said to call my provider. My provider said some of them they take care of and some are forwarded directly to the FBI. They lady I spoke with said mine would be going to the FBI. |

My sister in law (married to Bruce's brother) called one evening to ask if I knew about the relative (I forget where it was) that had died and left us millions of dollars. I really thought she was sort of joking, that she had got the e-mail and knew it was a joke and was just pulling my chain. But it appeared that she believed it. I told her I get those all the time. She ended up putting my brother in law on the phone and he said "they'll probably want money for us to get the inheritance, guess it would be a hassle" I really think they believed the e-mail. As PT Barnum said "There's a sucker born every minute" |

They will probably say they need your bank details for the transaction then wipe your account clean. |
