Need Blog Help I'm *hoping* there are some blog gurus out there... Short version: I started a blog through blogger/blogspot. I added the "follow me" gadget and it is automatically putting Google Friend Connect on there, which requires that people have a Google, Twitter, limited options account to follow. I don't want Google Friend Connect. Anyone have any idea how to take it off and put up a Follow Me option that does not limit the type of account needed to sign up? |
Is there any way I could see the blog? I may be able to help, but not sure just yet. |
Are you looking for someone to follow your blog or someone to follow you on twitter. It's late and perhaps I shouldn't try to help anyone when I'm tired:rolleyes: |

Well, as it turns out, I don't think there is another option anymore that you can add to that gadget. And for the record...their 'help' features are horrible! Something about a site agreement, etc etc. I have a friend working on setting up a FB profile that will pull blog posts over to that, so maybe that will help. In any event, the more followers, the better. (I would be honored.):) Just keep in mind, it's a work in progress and I am not very web savvy. MJ Stafford I have to warn you, it's not extremely exciting at this point. It's a writer's/literary blog...good for updates on the book I'm writing, book recommendations and reviews, etc. Pretty self explanatory...kind of make me feel like I have to stick with it and I figure in the long run, when I try to make literary contacts, having a long running blog with some interested people isn't going to hurt, right? (At least that's what I'm hoping for.) |
I think it looks great! So far it looks nicely organized. To be honest with you, I don't use blogger. I really think Wordpress is much more robust and user friendly. I'm still not completely sure what that FOLLOW button does. Does it allow people to subscribe to your blog and get updates every time you post? I know you can't change the current widget to delete Google Friends because it's a Google Friends widget combined with Follow. Maybe there is something else you can use? I personally like Subscribe to Blog buttons because if someone isn't interested anymore it's simple to UNsubscribe. As far as your button, I'd be fearful of Following because I have no idea how to UNfollow. When I was researching the button last night I saw many threads with people inquiring how to UNfollow blogs they were no longer interested in. I also agree that Signing In can be a little annoying. |

I honestly, am SO PC inept that it's ridiculous. I just looked at some blogs I follow and like and saw they were through blogspot, which seemed user friendly, thus I chose that one. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get the kinks worked out. Thanks for the compliments though! :) |

For the type of button, drop down to subscribe. Put http://www.mjstafford.blogspot.com in the page url and get code. I don't even know how Blogger works but I assume you could place code somewhere?? |
