Sleep Number bed??? Let me start with the fact that our kids think my bed is the best. It is pillow top, fluffy down comforter, lots of fluffy pillows and soft blankies, etc. etc. They wish they had it so good... However, this does not seem to be good enough for little Miss Madeleine. She will get into bed and dig like her little life depended on it. I will even wake up in the middle of the night to her digging a new spot. It cracks me up to watch her little legs go so fast because it does look comical but I am wondering if maybe it really means something else? Is there such a thing as it being too soft for comfort? It's not that it is hurting anything except for my lack of sleep since last night she woke up and I couldn't go back to sleep. Just thought I would ask through groggy eyes this afternoon :) Peggy, Monkey & Maddie :daisy: |
Hummmm... interesting. You know Harley does the same digging thing all the time when he's in our bed (he sleeps in his own room), I think with Harley he's trying to get under them. He's started this new thing where he digs around the edges of the blankets until he finds it, and digs underneath to curl up beside me. He also LOVES to play, chase anything that moves under the blankets. it's hillarious. I'm interested to see what people have to say about this. |
Mine do the same thing. I also wondered about that too then I seen on animal planet I think, about how a dog will dig and then circle before they lay down. They said it's their "wolf" primal instinct or something like that. That the wolf in the wild would circle around to step on all the grass and such before it layed down. Something like that. It's better said on Animal planet than me saying it:rolleyes:But my little girl legs goes a hundered miles an hour digging to get it just right and we have the Tempered Pedic bed.:p |
Poor sleep-deprived you!:D I always thought the bed didn't suit them and they were making it up to suit THEM!:D |
Bandit does the same thing sometimes (on those special days when he gets to sleep with us:rolleyes:) I think we should cover the outside of our comforter with sand paper so we save money on nail clipping in-between grooming haha!!! |

Hi, Both my babies sleep on my bed. They dig exactly like you described when they go to sleep and then they make some circles. At the beginning they used to do it for a long time. Touching them on their neck and saying NO in a firm tone worked for both of them. Now they do it a couple of times and then they go to sleep. Maria |
Poppy does this too, I always thought she was just getting comfy. |
I read somewhere that they do this to make sure there are no snakes, etc. before they lay down. Now why they think there would be snakes on your bed I don't know. Maybe they are saying we all need new beds?:) |
My boys dig occasionally, but not once they are settled do I hear them again until morning usually. However that does not mean they are not up all night playing brass instruments in my ears. I am the worlds heaviest sleeper. Last week I slept through the fire alarm and the dogs barking while shut into the same room as me and on the bed with me. My boyfriend was highly amused that I didn't wake up ... it scares me though. Our bed is a Sealy posturepedic pillowtop. I just LOVE it!!! My other bed was a latex foam from nature's rest. It was a great bed but maybe too soft after awhile. I paid a fortune for that mattress. The dogs seem to like to sleep wherever I am no matter what the sleep surface is! LOL |
