I've flown business class between the US and Asia and South America many times, and there was no special dress code. There also aren't any special dress codes for domestic first class. The only special dress codes are for airline employees. Perhaps since she was flying on a buddy pass, she was expected to follow that dress code as if she were an employee, which makes sense. If they give free tickets to employees and their "buddies," then they are allowed to ask them to dress at a certain level because they represent the airline company. |

Business casual means slacks or khakis (no jeans), dressy blouse (no t-shirts) or sweaters and pumps or ballet flats (no sandals or open toed/open back shoes, sneakers) for women on Southwest at least. My friend said that even her kids aren't allowed in jeans and sneakers when they fly on the family/buddy passes. |

It was probably the t-shirt with leggings. Usually a tunic or something is more appropriate. Even more important. It doesn't matter what everyone else was wearing. She was on a buddy pass. You want a free or cut rate, meaning pay less than everyone else, then maybe you have to play by different rules than everyone else. It is the airlines dime, their call, their decision. She probably could have gotten out the ole credit card, paid full fare, and stayed on the flight... |
No offense to anyone, but personally a Tshirt and tights on grown woman ia not attractive. A teen ager quesionable, a young girl maybe, a toddler is really the only one that looks cute in that outfit. If you are fortunate enough to be flying busniness class then you should dress accordingly. It is unfortunate that she was not informed of this ahead of time. If had to be humiliating for her. And disappointing not to get to see her boyfriend. Or was she able to take another flight? If there ws room on the plane they should have given her the option to move to coach. JMO |
