I'm at War!!! Before I moved from Germany to the Capeverdian Islands I didn't even know how cockroaches look like and I managed to keep the restaurant I had there roach free. Before we left our home here in Maryland in the supposedly good hands of my best friend for a year I had no roaches here either but since we are back I have them in my kitchen. I just can't get rid of them even though we have the Terminix guy come at least once a month. I also have traps out, spray wherever I can without putting the furbutts at risk, never leave food out and keep my kitchen so clean you can literally eat from the floor. What is your secret weapon? Please help!!! |
Do you live in a house or an Apt Building? Terminex needs to come more frequently, and needs to drill holes behind the walls and spay in there, in outlets, pipes, attic, basement, etc. Once they are in, it is hard ot keep them out. We used to get HUGE Water Roaches when we lived on the Coast in NC. These guys were so big that had their own eating utensils. THere are more agressive ways than terminex, but then you border on being unsafe to pets and humans. Kill them, kill them all. |
Do you live near a wooded area? We do and have those flying roaches always trying to get in... yuck! We have Terminix spray and I used to freak out the first couple months because every now and then I'd see a dead roach on my floor. Apparently when they would enter the house and cross over the spray it just took a couple feet to kill them. So, I really shouldn't have been freaking out, because the spray was actually working. ;p |
I don't know if I'm spelling this right but try diotenacious earth (DE). It's a powder that will cut their echtoskeleton which kills them. It's harmless to animals (mine have licked it) It's kind of messy but it does the trick. When we had the cats who went out all the time they'd bring in fleas and this really worked. When the fleas were gone, we'd just do a major vaccuming and it was all gone. |
Years ago in the other home I had, it became infested with fleas. I had all the dogs and cats at the groomers and on that same day used containers of bombs...it is a kind of spray can that when you push the top like a spray can it starts to release its spray and you have to leave the room you're in as each is dispensing its contents. The nozzle stays depressed on its own. I had one in each room. This worked for me for fleas...I don't know about roaches. Can't stand those things...I had them in my first apartment and it drove me crazy. But these cans did the trick for me and no more fleas. Forgot to mention that you need to be out of the house for a certain amount of hours before returning....no animals can be inside at all. |
