Which Chi Flat Iron to buy? Do any of you guys have CHI's and which one? I've got thick wavy hair that my knock off Chi iron from Sally's Beauty supply just doesn't work for. It stays straight for a bit, but if it's humid out it frizzes up. So I've decided to just go ahead and spend the money and get a Chi. Does the cheapest of theirs work as well as the more expensive? I've looked at the digital ones also, but I can't really find anything comparing the different models. Thanks so much. Whitney |
I recommend a better flat iron, it's the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it has tourmaline ceramic plates which don't damage the hair like the others, it leaves my hair soft, shiny and super straight. I love it! :D :) |
I work in a salon and have done hair for 8 years. Personally.. I am not a fan off Chi's. They end up shorting out or one day they just won't turn back on. I have gone through 2. My sisters have gone through 3.. And too be honest they are to expensive to replace yearly. The salon I work at quit buying them as well.. Check some of these out.. I love the Hair Art flat irons... I have one at work and one at home HairArt Tourmaline Flat Iron 1" My mom has a GHD and loves it! GHD Classic Styler Ceramic Hair Straightener, GHD MK4 | Folica.com Also.. if you have a TJ MAXX near by sometimes they carry professional irons and dryers for REALLY good deals.. Because I am liscensed I am able to buy everything at Wholesale costs.. but TJ Maxx has them almost at prices I am able to buy them for.. My sister bought a Biosilk iron that she found at TJ for a super good deal! I think she paied 45.. Also.. Biosilk and Chi are owned by Farouk. Same Company.... the Biosilk is almost identical to the Chi but at half the cost.. And my sister's Biosilk flat iron has held up better then her previous Chi. That will save you some money!!!!! Amazon.com: Farouk Biosilk BST1001 1" Ergonomic Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron: Beauty I've also seen Chi Blowdryers at TJ that would retail for 250 and they have them for 49! |
I have the ghd professional and really like it. |
Don't like the Chi's they don't work well enough on really curly hair like mine- would DIE without my Sedu. |
I don't like the Chi's either. Have one, doesn't work well on hair with texture. I got an "Instyler" from QVC. LOVE it. It really works well and helps keep my hair really shiny. No need for any of those shine sprays anymore. |
So glad to read this thread, I thought I was the only one that didn't like the Chi, I've been buying these things since the 60's, and for a decade they didn't sell any, so I bought a lot of them, just in case perms came back in. :p One thing I didn't like about my Chi, is I couldn't adjust the temperature, I don't think one heat is good for everyone. |

What I love most about my current styler versus the Chi is that it turns off on it's own after 15 minutes if left unattended. I've left my styler on like 5 times  and have burned the carpet. What styler are you using now? |

I have owned a Salon for 26 years, and have recently started doing Simply Smooth Keratin Treatments. Simply Smooth is a brand name, and the have a line of flat irons called CURE. They are fantastic!! You can look up Simply Smooth Treatments on youtube. |
I have a Chi turbo I think... but when it dies I'll be getting a GHD I think, unless something else even better comes out. Chi burns your hair, but I need my iron HOT to get my kinky curls to go straight! Chi works well for that, no doubt.... but my ends are fried, even with straightening creams and lotions I use. |
