Does anyone wear contact lenses for reading? I am sick of my reading glasses. They are all over the house and I'm always looking for a pair. I can't even fold laundry without them because I have to look at sizes. I can't empty the dishwasher without them because I can't see if the items are clean. Anyway, I got these contact lenses last week and we are still trying to narrow down the right prescription. I do love them because I can see everything. But they are a bit blurry for distance and a little for reading. They don't bother me at all and I hardly feel them. I was wondering if anyone has tried these and how they are for you. |
I wear contacts all the time and then cheaters for reading. I've worn contacts for 30 years and love 'em. I heard they make bi-focal contacts for people like me - I can't imagine how that works though - I get tired of carrying around the cheaters. When I go into a store I have to dig them out to read the labels - then when I go to push them up on top of my head - my sunglasses are already up there - and I'm walking around with 2 pair of glasses on my head! |
I've been wearing contacts since I was 15, I'm 42 now, but I try to wear glasses if I'm reading and on the computer alot, I find my contacts dry out. |
I have been wearing bifocal contact lenses for many years now. I wear Accuvue lenses. I love them. I couldn't stand the idea of wearing contacts and then having to wear glasses on top of them to read. The bifocal contact lenses use concentric circles and your brain automatically adjusts your vision. They work for most people. Your eye doctor may also try monovision where one eye is fitted for far vision and the other for near. I tried that and it gave me a headache but it does work for some people. With the bifocal lenses, I find that I have to give up a slight bit of clarity for far vision and for near vision. For distance, it is so slight, I don't notice it. Very rarely, in some very dim settings I may need reading glasses to completely read a menu. This only happens once every couple of months. The bifocal disposable lenses are more expensive , but all and all I find that it is so worth it. Good luck. |
I had them changed again yesterday. They are quite blurry but I am hopeing my brain kicks in and adjusts. I don't have them in now and I mean I could see but it blurry. I certainly hope it works. My daughter plays college soccer and I like to tape the games. It is hysterical that I need the readers for looking in the camera but I also need to were sunglasses. So I have two pairs on at the same time and look like a nut. Ive tried the reading sunglasses but I look stupid in them. I am starting to get discouraged about these contacts. I hate the blurryness. :( |
I have worn contacts for years and now have Monovision contacts which is one eye for distance and one eye for up close reading. Yes I know it sounds strange but you actually adjust after a few days and can read up close. |
