Saw Transformers 3 being filmed today 4 Attachment(s) My Daughter and I took the train downtown Chicago today and we came across them filming the Transformers 3 movie. We saw Shia LaBouf and Josh Duhmal and they were shooting an action scene. We watched for about an hour before moving on. It was pretty cool. I guess I will have to go see it when it comes out. Here's some pictures |

That's so cool! They just let you walk by it? I've seen so many movies with streets I recognize but they do a lot of filming at night. It would be cool to watch like you did. |
Yea they kept us behind barricades but we were really close. It's amazing how long it takes to film 10 seconds of a scene. |
what street were they filming on today? |
Wow! That is cool! I loved the first and second Transformers I can't wait for the third. OMG! OMG! |

back in the days I worked for an actor (Charlie Haid) who was Henry Wrinklers best friend and between them I had a 'pass' to Universal Studio's building where they hosted the 'sets' for many tv shows and man was it BORING to watch a 10 second shoot (LOTS of standing around time and re-do's)...Interesting but still - boring It pretty much turned me off tv for a long time because all I did was remember all the work for simple scenes to make the final cut. I remember one show (that Charlie was working on) and another actor was susposed to be chewing out his 'cops' but his hair kept moving - they'd stop -hair people would rush in ....do a comb over then they'd retake. I thought the hair flying only added to the scene.:) That went on for over an hour before I gave up for something more interesting Actors also have readers who whisper lines to them when doing tv - film work is very very precise and it involves so many retakes to get it right - so what WE see never really is what actually went on in the original filming. oh and I also saw Ego issues and tempers when stopping into different 'sets' -I was in shock that once the camers were off how a few acted. (temper tantrums) One in particular was someone who I always remembered as hot :)and a great actor and at first I was in awe to be watching him film but - once the cameras were off WOW -he was a jerk ! and like I said I didn't watch tv for a long time because I saw firsthand all it takes to get a scene into a final. Film Editors have probably a more important job than the actual actors - The cool thing was the 'fake' sets DO look like real locations |

I lived in Chicago during the '80s and '90s, and people would often share their stories of watching the filming of "The Blues Brothers," which included a tank ripping up streets in the Loop. I think Batman and now Transformers have outdone the Blues Brothers. :p |

Pirates of the Caribbean is being filmed in Hawaii now, and yesterday I saw the ship "Black Pearl" in Honolulu. Didn't get close to filming site though, but wanted to share what I thought was a hilarious casting call for extras recently “Looking for authentic-looking scavenger-types … ages 18 to 60s, all ethnicities, especially extreme character types — thin, tall, short, emaciated, odd features, huge nose, eyes, ears, lazy eye, grizzled and wrinkled faces, odd body types, missing limbs, teeth etc.” That must have been interesting.:eyetearss |
