Most continuously annoying thing in life... ...in my opinion... every errand I need to do, the places I need to go are only open the hours that I work!!!! :( I don't want to waste vaca time to go to the bank or the mechanic but there is no other way to do it!!!! Its soooo frustrating that I can never get to the bank, post office, mechanic, hair dresser, vet, doctor, dentist without disrupting my work day!!! Aaaarrrggggg this week has been very frustrating. I really wish the service industry was open like 11am - 8pm or something!!! |
Aw, sorry. I'm really lucky because I work from home almost all the time, and I can mostly set my hours. It's *still* difficult for me sometimes because I'm such a night owl. I don't feel like I really start focusing until around 7pm. FYI, some animal shelters have had huge improvements in their adoption rates just by shifting their hours the way you describe... so I don't think you're alone in feeling this way. |
It would be soo great if mechanics, doctors, banks, vets and post offices did that too! That's nice to hear though, I'm glad they thought of that and made it work for them! |
I'm pretty lucky cause my work schedule fluctuates..so i usually have some time during the day that week to get somewhere. Plus i can always switch days with someone. Also i know you're in my area and i dont know if theres a TDBank up there..but they are open ALL hours of the day..weekdays from 9am to 8pm and saturdays from 9pm to 3pm..and they are even open on Sundays!!! Hek, they were even open on the 4th of July! LOL Theres also a post office here that is open on sundays! I try to find services that are more catered to the customers hours rather than their own hours. I know they are hard to find but you got to keep looking. |
Yeah I guess I have to do that! Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that about TDBank north! Good to know! :) A sunday post office??? wow!!! What town is that? (PM me if you don't want to say on here please!) GREAT to know! |
It's in Framingham Ma...on Rte 30. |
I agree. My 24 year old dtr has been battling swollen knees and most recently her elbow. After many trips to a bone and joint doc it was determined she needed to see a rheumatologist. They have the worse hours for working people. She is newer on her job,5 person office,no sick time or vacation time and works from 8:30 to 5. There isn't a rheumatologist that is open before or after those hours. I finally made her go and she had to switch her lunch hour with someone else and we were gone way longer than her hour lunch. She was diagnosed with active inflammatory spondyloarthritis. They put her on strong medicines and she needs to be seen every 4 weeks. Doctor gave he a note to give her employer but she is afraid to show him. Anyway I called yesterday to get her her next 4 week appointment and the only early appointment they have that she can get is mid September. Are you kidding me. What are working people to do. Jobs are hard to come by and you don't want to take time off. |
Oh that's a haul from me... a bit over an hour away! However, my boyfriend and friend work in Framingham and commute down there 5 days a week!! |

I feel your pain. I had to go to the doctors on Monday, well that was 1 hour late for work, then the vet on tuesday so that was leave 2 hours early. Then I call the bank yesterday (got a new atm card and lost the paper with the pin# to activate it) and I have to actually go into a branch to reset the pin but they are only open until 530 most days, which means i have to leave work a 1/2 hour early to make it there!!! GGGRRRRR they are too far to go to on lunch break too! I did find the I can get tires at BJs (which I need) until 8pm at night, that is a nice thing! :) |
