Should I wear this dress to a wedding? 2 Attachment(s) My boyfriend's cousin is getting married at the end of this month (July 31st is the wedding I believe). I was thinking of wearing the dress that I wore 3 years ago to my graduation/prom. This is the picture of the dress, and a picture from my grad of me wearing it. What do you think? Also, What kind of shoes should I wear with it?? Pictures please :p |
The dress is great and you look beautiful in it. I think it's would be wonderful for a wedding. I love the strappy black shoes they are showing, something like this could give the dress a fresh look. http://imworld.aufeminin.com/dossier...1-161923_L.jpg Don't mean these shoes exactly, but just the "type." |
Great dress, perfect for a wedding. And you could wear any kind of shoes with it; pumps or sandals, just no flats. Sorry, I don't know how to attach pics...lol. Little tip (in case you have not figured it out yourself): whenever I wear strapless dresses I either attach it unvisible with small safety pins to the strapless bra or even stitch it to the bra. |
Cute dress! You look very nice in it. It's a very appropriate for a wedding. |
Your dress is very elegant, I think it would be lovely for a wedding. I would wear black heels with the dress. |
Love the dress on you. Not everyone can pull off horizontal stripes, but you sure can. ~Joanne~ |
Very pretty dress and you wear it well! Go for it. |
oh yeah.. very cute! |
How formal is the wedding? Is it inside or outside? What time of day? Sorry so many questions, I'm just starting out as a wedding planner and this is something I might be able to help with. :) |
You get my 's up! Very classy & you wear it very well!;) |
I think you look absolutely beautiful in that dress. Wow! That is NOT an easy dress to pull off at all! But you have a stunning figure. And you are so fortunate to have a wedding planner on YT to give you expert advise. I love your dress and I know you'll think I'm crazy but I'd wear red shoes with it. So adorable. |
But isn't a wedding the perfect excuse for a new dress :D:D:D As cbhunny asked, need to know time of day, is wedding formal etc? |
Aww its a beautiful dress but I live by the rule of never wear any kind of white dress to a wedding. Do you know what the bridesmaids are wearing? You dont want to wear something that is more formal then they are. Thats my opinion, gorgeous dress for sure. |
Aww thank-you everyone! You are all so sweet.:wub::wub::wub: The wedding is in the daytime in a church, and the reception is later that evening. The dress is definitely more beige than white, and I do not have any idea what the bridesmaids are wearing. I never thought of that. |
It is beautiful and you wear it well! A good choice in my opinion. |
It's a good dress, but it appears white in pictures and like twalla said, r.o.t. avoid white dresses at someone else's wedding, even if its more beige it'll look white in the pictures they get back from the photographer unless you're standing right next to here. You can always shoot the pics to the bride and see what she says, you never know what might offend someone till you ask. I know people say it's easier to beg for forgiveness then to ask for permission but when it comes to weddings...well, ever see 'Bridezilla'? |
**Yikes, by "here" I meant her... |
I have to respectfully disagree about the "whiteness" of the dress. With those stripes, NO ONE is going to mistake the wearer for the bride. And I agree with what someone else said....that is a hard dress to look good in with the horizontal stripes, but you look BEAUTIFUL in it! IMO, go ahead and wear it, especially if it is comfortable and you feel confident in it.:) |
Idk, wedding dresses have gotten crazy these days, lol. I've seen a wedding which the bride wore a hot pink dress! Again, I'd say ask the bride, or at least the maid of honor, they'll have better insight and can tell you for sure if it'll be too dressy or not dressy enough. |

I think the dress is adorable. I wouldn't worry about the white stripes unless the bride is a real Bridezilla. I think it would look adorable with patent black peep-toes for an evening wedding. :) |
I like it, It looks quite nautical which is in fashion at the moment :) |
Stunning dress, you look beautiful in it :) I'd do a strappy sandal, black for evening. Or consider adding a pair of colored "strappy" heels, earring and a clutch for a summertime touch;) Enjoy the wedding |

OP, I think the dress is very beautiful and you look amazing in it. I say wear it with black open-toed heels. I think I would stay keep my shoes simple since the dress is busy with the stripes. :) |
Thanks so much everyone for the input. The bride is a kindergarden teacher, total sweetheart and the furthest thing from a Bridezilla lol! I sent the pictures to my boyfriends sister and she said she thinks I should definitely wear it, so I think I will. I'll have to go shoe shopping soon, and I'll let you know what shoes I wear :) |
1 Attachment(s) So I went shoe shopping today! Here's a picture. What do you guys think? Also! What about jewelry? I rarely wear any at all so that really confuses me  |
Okay you say church wedding. Get a gauzy small shawl to cover your shoulders for the church. Jewellry is minimal with that dress, the stripes are a major statement in and of themselves. Are you wearing your hair down, or pulled up and back? If up and back, try a textured stud earring of appropriate size, you could accent either the cream or the black. if down no earrings. If up and back with earrings no bangle. I would wear a bangle type of bracelet on one arm. What you could do is forget earrings and or bracelet and wear an ankle bracelet, with those shoes. ooo la la |
