Spots from laminate
 
Does anyone know what will bring pee spots up from the laminate flooring? I have 4 yorkies and 2 of them miss the pad quite a bit:rolleyes: I used my shark and I couldn't get them up with that so I was wandering what you guys with this type of floors use.

I don't have any pee spots but I can tell you that we have a spot in front of our refrigerator because of crushed ice falling out of (missing the cup) the dispenser. There must have been a time or two that it didn't get wiped up so now there's a spot - kinda looks like a white-ish water mark but it doesn't go away when you clean it. If that's what you're talking about, I'm not sure that you can make that go away. I'd love for someone to tell me I'm wrong though!

I have a permanent pee spot on the far side of my dining room table, on the laminate flooring:( I didn't see it until it was dried up, so it must have been there for a while:o It won't go away:cry: Unfortunately, the damage is done once any liquid has been allowed to sit for too long:(

When I can afford it, I'm having REAL wood floors installed. At least they can be refinished if something happens.

What kind of laminate are you all using? I've never heard of laminate staining.

My laminate never gets stains no matter how long something was sitting. One of the reasons I love it so much and recommend it. When I clean the room I use a spray designed for laminate, I think it is called Bruce.

My hardwood is the one I have to worry about with stains. I would like to refinish it one of these days or replace it with laminate. Any ideas how to get water stains out of hardwood, that seems to be the problem in that room.

Well, my spot in front of the fridge is probably from the hard water. It's more of a white-ish spot. We have hard well water with a water softener but still the water, if left sitting somewhere, will leave a white spot. I've tried everything to get it off the floor.

Hey everyone. Connie suggested vinegar. I just finished trying it and YAY...it worked. I just put full strength white vinegar on a paper towel and rubbed it on the "pee spots" and they came right up!!

That's the one thing I haven't tried for my water spot. Wonder if it will work for that too....

Sometimes the white you see is minerals, and vinegar is great for dissolving these minerals.

Will definitely give it a try tonight. Don't know why I haven't thought of that before. I get the mineral buildup around my faucet in the kitchen but don't use vinegar because of the granite (I've heard that's not good for it). We just use a razor blade to clean that off occasionally.

Yes, granite is sealed because it is porous so that oil stains cannot seep into the granite and vinegar weakens the sealer. Some places recommend adding new sealer yearly.

Razor Blade on Granite for water stains. If you ever get an oil stain in Granite, you can use Acetone (pour it over a few paper tpwels, and place some platic wrap over it and tape it down to keep the acetone from drying out). The next morning, remove it, and the stain is gone. Binegar is great for windows.

I had wanted to put laminate in my house and actually contacted armstrong because I have 3 dogs. They said laminate would not be a good idea because if liquids sit too long it can stain and warp the flooring.
(I put it in one of the rooms the dogs don't have access too and have decided to just do the entire living room/front room area anyway).

Good to know about the white vinegar!

Well, we DID get ours on Clearance:laugh: It's a Shaw brand laminate. Of course, the pee stain I'm talking about must have been there for a looooong time, it was all dried up and flaky. I never go on that side of the table, unless I'm cleaning. Yours must be a super good brand/quality;) What is it?!?!
