What is the strangest and/or most offensive compliment you have ever received? I saw this question on another forum (don't worry, it was a hangbag forum LOL) and there were a lot of very funny responses. since we are mostly female here, I'm sure most of us have gotten a few "compliments" that were not appreciated. Let's share. I'll go first. "Are your eyebrows tattooed?" (I really don't like tatted brows, my mom has hers done and they look terrible. and for the record, the answer is no.) "No? wow, you are really good at drawing fake eyebrows" "You have really huge eyes" (All the better to see how annoying you are! JK) "You look like Lucy Liu" (No I don't, I have *huge* eyes remember?) |
After surgery in May I lost 6lbs. DH's "compliment" was: Great, you lost weight....but maybe it's because you couldn't work out for a while; muscles are heavier than fat. I still had enough muscles left to slap him on the head. |
My bestfriend's ex husband told me in front of her "You have the sexiest eyes I've ever seen." talk about an awkward moment, i gave him a "WTF" look and she just shook her head... glad he's an ex-husband (he was an a$$) |
A cashier at a store a few months ago asked me if I was a "former model". FORMER?? Geez, thanks. She went on to say that I looked so put together and had such great posture that she thought I must have had some "training". She did go on to say she didn't mean that I couldn't be a model "presently". hmmmmm I had a lady in line behind me at the grocery store last week flat out ask me "hey, how old are you??". I looked around thinking maybe she thought I was buying something I wasn't old enough for or something. Then I should have asked her how old she THOUGHT I was but I missed out on that moment. I answered her that I would be 39 next month and the whole time she's just shaking her head - like she was disgusted or something. Then she said "I bet you have kids too". Well, yes... I have a 14 and 16 year old. Whole time, shaking her head. Then she finally smiled and said, "I just think you look nowhere near your age honey". Well, finally the compliment comes out! :p I do have to say though that these compliments usually come at the end of the day when I'm feeling my most ragged and worn down and think I look like hell. I guess I should go easier on myself. ;) |
How about "You have such a JLo booty!" hahahaha Yes I have a big A$$... thanks for feeling the need to point that out! LOL "You're curly hair is beautiful but I can see why you'd hate it." uuuummmm LOL |
HAHAHA! These are so funny. The first thing that popped into my mind was something a guy told me in 7th grade. My science teacher was assigning seats, and I got stuck with one of those trouble makers that all the girls swoon over. Anywho, as we reached for our assigned seats they guy asks, "Hey, are you smart?" I respond, "yeah, I'm pretty smart." "Yeah, you look smart. Good, cause you're not very cute." Let's just say he got all the wrong answers for the rest of the year. |
Someone told me I have legs as big as an ox! Lol there was a language barrier so they meant to say strong as an ox, but it was really funny! Oh and it was in front of my boss and some other guys and they were laughing their butts off! Made me feel GREAT! I cycle 15-20 miles 4-5 times a week so in their defense my legs are big for my short (4'11'') size! |

I was at my sons college graduation. Another mom sitting beside me and my 3 daughters (all 3 in college also) states after they announce my son magna cum lauda and finishing his 4 year dual degree in 3 years, "it must be nice to have someone smart in your family"!! Now I graduated magna cum lauda from nursing school, my oldest daughter is on a full scholarship to a private all girls school in Boston, and my twins are both at a state college. I then thought about the comment and figured she meant there was no one smart in her family..:D |
I cant think of any real strange ones but My Mother in law is constantly telling me Im losing weight when Im actually gaing or I will look really bad that day and she'll tell me I look good |
You'v gotta love a mother-in-law like that!!!:p |
A couple of years ago my old hair stylist used too dark of a color & my hair turned out almost black! It happened to be in the fall and when I was getting my oil changed, the guy asked me if I colored my hair black for Halloween to go as a witch! Another hair coloring story. My Mom's hair color didn't turn out one time & she was so paranoid about it and kept asking everyone if it was ok or not. Well we were at McDonalds one morning & this teenage girl said "I LOVE your pink hair, that is so cool!" My Mom was so embarrassed! In school I was always called "bug eyes" because my eyes were so big! |
A man behind me in line at the grocery store once told me I had "exquisite feet." It was either a joke or a compliment, but it was the weirdest thing I have ever heard in real life. And then, a few weeks ago I was carded at the mall. There is a weekend policy where no one under 16 can be at the mall without a parent/guardian. I am in my 20s...but apparently, at least to the security guard on a power trip, I look like I am under sixteen. |
OH MY GOODNESS!! How could I even forget these?! I used to babysit the sassiest little 4-year-old and she was always "complimenting" me. Once she told me, "I want my hair to be like yours was when it was long...back when you were pretty!" Another favorite: "I like your dress...you would look like a princess if you weren't wearing those shoes." |
I was walking the girls on a wooded trail and a guy passed me and said I don't mean to come on too strong but the wind is blowing just in the right direction and you smell amazing:eek: I did not know what to say. I wear amazing grace by philosophy and it does smell really clean but omg it was awkward. Then the other night we were out with some friends and my sister and her fiance were arguing about some guy that hit on her. My future brother in law said to my dh how would you feel My dh says Joyce never gets hit on, do you Joyce..........OMG I wanted to smack him:eek: Men.........they say the darndest things:rolleyes: |
