Trying to sign up for a facebook account which makes me nervous anyway...virus..accounts being hacked, etc. Anyway, I get through the first screen..name..date of birth...the next screen has my email address and is asking for my password to my email address. Are you kidding me?? Why should I have to give away my password, that sounds scary! |

Lot's of sites want your e-mail address, even Yorkietalk, and then you have to make a password, but it shouldn't be the same as your email. |
I thought the same thing too. :D I do however keep mine super private. No one can see anything about me that I don't want them to. Plus, I only made it so that my brother could talk to me while he was at work. I have no use for it now. |
As long as you don't click on a lot of the links Facebook is fine. You can access your address book to add friends but you can also just search people you know. :) |

Contact Importer Error Invalid username and / or password. Make sure you enter your email password, not your Facebook account password. If you continue to experience problems, please skip this step of orientation. You can still find friends using the Search field in the right hand corner of every page. |
Ok, I just hit skip this step. |

Does the address start like this? http://www.facebook.com/profile.php? If so, that's the real spacebook. |

You make a yahoo email just for facebook, thats what I did. If you need help setting one up, if you create a new email and let me know what it is, I will set one up for you then you can get in, change your name and password.. whatever, et etc etc. |
this is what worries me about facebook and why i don't have an account like the rest of the world. i hear so many stories about being hacked and getting viruses. plus a while ago i read somewhere that the owners of facebook can use your personal information or sell it, or something like that. |
My hacking was by an individual.... it was my own fault for having a password that I always say. |

I am totally computer illiterate. My hubby helped me setting up my FB but I'm super cautious and (hopefully) nobody who isn't on my friend list can look at my profile. So far I never had issues with hackers or viruses but we also have a program to be protected (duh...probably everybody has that). FB can be a lot of fun and is neat to stay in contact but I'm not a big fan of sending hugs, drinks, smiles etc and I don't care about farmville or MW...lol. |

I have my Facebook profile set to private yet if I type "Rachael Knox Facebook Newcastle" in Google images a photo of me and my boyfriend from my Facebook page pops up which is quite scary seen as it's suposed to be private! I think with Facebook just make sure you dont put anything too personal on there and dont click on random links because alot of them lead to viruses. You will probably get a lot of strangers trying to add you like everyone else does but dont accept them and I would suggest with people you know but dont know REALLY well you should limit how much of your profile they can see through the security settings. Also with social networking sites people get into the habit of putting there every move on there status lol! e.g. "is going shopping today" or "1 week till my vacation!" make sure you DONT do this you dont want people knowing when you are not home as I know people who have had there homes broken into because of this. Other then that good luck and I hope you enjoy Facebook :) |
