ok passing on the Proactive- but now what?
 
Ugh- After seeing that Proactive has bleached my towels- I have decided I don't want that on my face- but I can't figure out WHAT to use.... Right now I am using Neutrogena clean and clear as well as their toner- which clearly isn' doing much. I don't have horrible acne- just a few bumps on my cheeks and forehead- any suggestions?

I have started using Pond's cold cream. I have used it for several months now and love the way it makes my face feel.

Burts Beeswax Apricot Scrub.

Olive Oil or coconut oil (cold pressed, extra virgin, no preservatives) on breakouts

Toners and harsh cleansers always worsened my problems. I finally learned to stop drying out my face, damaging the skin cells and causing the pores to produce more sebum and more blockages.

What does it do?

Cold cream cleans thoroughly and gently, without stripping or drying and without harsh detergents. It'll add essential moisture to dry skin, without leaving residue.

I was not sure about it at first b/c it feels like it will make your skin greasy, but it doesn't. I don't know how they do it but it is really good stuff. I also like that Unilever, which manufactures Pond's is committed to the elimination of animal testing.

Same here. I think the more I used on my face the worse it was.

Proactive has Benzoyl Peroxide which is commonly used in many acne treatments. If you can tolerate it, and doesn't cause too much redness, it can stop the breakouts beneath the skin. It will bleach out towels, but that doesn't mean it's harmful to skin. Here's some good information Benzolyl Peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Do not use oily creams such as Ponds, its made for a totally different skin type.

Different faces and skin types have different requirements, but I have to say my grandmother always used Pond's and her skin looked fabulous to age 93. :)

I was going to say the same thing. Marcerella02, someone posted in your other thread that some other acne treatment did the same thing, so it's not just proactive. At least now you know what ingredient is causing it, and if you don't like that particular effect, choose one without that ingredient.

I have combination skin and it works for me. However, there are several products from them such as Pond’s Deep Cleanser and Make-up Remover, which is made for all skin types.

Clearasil has a system similar to Proactive that I have read some people found more effective. I'm sure they both use Benzoyl Peroxide, hence the bleaching.

:p It was my dh's great aunt that mentioned she used and I have always thought her skin look amazing. I have combination skin and it has worked for me. However, I can see where seriously oily skin would get too much moisture from it.

It has mineral oil and beeswax, and while these don't hurt skin that is slightly dry, for some people it can cause clogging of the pores, and aggravate acne.

I haven't looked at their cleansing line, but I always liked Clinique products. They carry lines of products for every skin type. Just a thought.:)

Clinique has a 3 step system for all different skin types. I use the acne soap, toner number 3, and the spot treatment.

i also like neutrogena acne stress control facial scrub and spot treatment
