Wow, a hockey fan. Glad to see I'm not the only one around here. :) I'm sure you were as excited as confused after Kane shot that puck!

Actually Speed I figured it was in because I was watching the Philadelphia goalie and after the shot he didn't move from his sprawled position and I think he knew it was over. It's a shame to admit it but I'm old enough to remeber when the Hawks won the last cup in '61, but I feel very glad I was able to watch a great player like Bobby Hull play and Stan Mikita. I still get goose bumps when I see the old films of Bobby take the puck down the ice and shoot with his very hard slap shot like nobody else.

Another Hawks fan here. Lets hope the next cup does not take 49 years. My wife gets tickets occasionally and I make sure she always invites me.

That's good then, at least you weren't worried they were going to have everyone put all their gear back on and sit back on the bench!!! Can you imagine how crazy that would have been? Although amazingly, that's what probably should have happened after Brett Hull's cup winner in '99. (Thank goodness that stupid rule was removed after that season).
Unfortunately, I started watching hockey around '96. I can't even imagine what it would have been like watching Gretzky, Messier, Lemieux and all those great players back in the day.

lol the only hockey game I have ever went to was in Chicago and that was CRAZY. My ex bf bro was giving me the play by play telling me "and that little black thing in the middle is a puck". My ex bf had to tell him to shut up as I had lettered in 4 sports as a freshman in high school and know what a puck is lolllll. He left me alone the rest of the night and we had a blast.

49 years...it seems unimaginable that it took that long. I've been a Red Wings fan ever since I started watching hockey, so I've been spoiled to a cup-winning team. :p
However, this year was clearly Chicago's year. They had a great team and worked really hard to win, so they definitely deserve it. My wife doesn't like watching hockey on TV, but we go once every year or so to Dallas when they play the Wings, and she really enjoys it.
We used to have an ECHL team in Lafayette, LA: The Louisiana Icegators. After setting record after record in attendance, because of poor management it ended up fading and the team went away. I miss going to local games :(

Someday try to come up to the United Center to watch Detroit play the Hawks it would be a once in a life time experience for you. Listening to the unbelievable roar of the crowd during the National Anthem is one of a kind in all of sports. It's a shame the Hawks play Detroit probably only twice a year at home since both were in the original six teams and those games are sold out as are all the games. Stub Hub seems to be the best way to get tickets here if you don't have season tickets. This is the second year now that the Hawks are broadcasting on T.V. all their games home and away which was never done before thanks to Rocky Wirtz the son of the owner that passed away a couple of years ago. The old man was known as "Dollar Bill" Wirtz because he was so cheap. It's amazing just a couple of years ago the Blackhawks franchise was voted the absolute worse run franchise in any sport and Rocky Wirtz turned that around in just a couple of years. Maybe I better stop my hockey babbling here the woman probably think they got on the wrong forum.

Can you imagine being allergic to mosquitoe bites and living in TX for 16 years.....Pure hell. Hubby had to spray they yard every month like clock work begining at the end of March through the beginning of November. Yellow Jackets and Hornets are also in abundance there....couldn't go barefoot in the back yard. And oh those fireants. Had to be careful how we treated for them because of the dogs. Found out that grits did the job.

Those fire ants are something else. Glad they are not in Illinois, as of yet! Grits..I will have to remember that.

Yeah, Chicago was a mess from what I hear. I'm glad they were able to turn it around.
And I've heard of Gordie Howe of course, but I'm not familiar with Alex DelVechio. I wasn't born until '80, so I've missed a lot of good players.

The only thing that offends me is when dog's lives are put at risk by irresponsible making bad choices.

As I said, if a subject is distasteful, move on.

It appears that some have a personal vendetta and have nothing better to do but read every thread to find things offensive.

The forum would be better served if there were more light heartedness or providing serious assistance.
