Bummed out I did something REALLY stupid a while back. I shared my dress pattern, detailed instructions and trade secrets of my business to a friend who said she would only be sewing for her own dogs. I did up step by step instructions, where I even included pictures with each step of making a dog dress. She was my friend...I love to help friends. Besides that, I spent many, many hours on the phone answering her questions and giving advice. I could go on and on, but I won't. I started from scratch with my business and will admit that I do it because I can use the income. Over the years I have perfected my style dress, which was uniquely mine. I worked hard with no help from anyone. Now I feel as if I have been kicked in the teeth. This person now has a website that she is advertising on all the yorkie sites. She has my style dresses, vests, ruffled vests on her website and even has the exact same prices on hers as I do mine. She even has the same packaging! I took pride in packaging my items to look professional. Now nothing about my business is unique any more. If you can't trust a friend, who can you trust? I am so upset! |
Connie, I am sorry that you feel hurt. Your dresses are simply adorable and you have made a great name for yourself. Sorry you feel betrayed :( |
Wow that is unbelievable! She is not much of a friend, I am so sorry she took advantage of you! |
That is just unbelievable that a friend would do that to you. You have an awesome talent and do beautiful work and that is just not right. I just recently started making dresses and vests and I made my patterns too. I would be so upset if someone did that to me. I hate that you found out the hard way she wasn't much of a friend. That is so just not right. |
Connie, I am so sorry this person did that to you. I hope she doesn't come on here and try to get business. I totally believe you reap what you sow. She lied to you and it will bite her in the bootie! It is very hateful for a person to steal your creations and then try to profit from them. Shame on her! |
I'm sorry I know it hurts when someone betrays a trust. Just remember what goes around comes around. Have you spoken to this friend about this? May be it would make you feel better if you at least told her how hurt you feel. |
I am so sorry! Why would someone think that's okay??? I just don't get it. Personally, I would keep the emails and whatever records you have in case you decide to take action later. One idea though. I know several people who are making an income selling pdf patterns and downloadable instructions along with video tutorials that take you step by step through it. Basically, consider what you did for her as a product in addition to your clothing that you make. AND...I am very sure that your quality is better and you know all of the little tips and tricks that make your work completely unique to you. Stay one step ahead with designs and fabrics. You have class, and that's something she obviously doesn't have, so your work will always be better. But, I do know how you feel. It's tough when you trust in someone and they let you down. :( |
aww how hurtful. Im sorry for you. Your dresses and vests are really nice. |
oh man Connie - I know how much work you put into your designs and site - there has to be a way to stop her from copying everything you did- it would seem copyright infridgment - but again - I don'[t know enough about this :( Would taling to an attorney hekp do uou thiink ? There is a big differece in personal use and making an internet site duplicating someone elses site to profit especially when yours has been up a long time and she;s now copying and infridging on YOUR source of income - shd lied big time and there has to be recourse where you can get that site taken down since it's a copy of yours I'd def talk to an attorney - espeially one who specializes in internet infridgment someone else may know better and guide you but you are on the winning side of this mess - what a terible frirend ! |
Dear Connie, that was a rotten thing for a friend to do. Your work and reputation for quality and uniqueness speak for themselves. You did something out of the kindness of your heart for a friend and now this person is trying to take business from you. I hope they reconsider and try selling elsewhere. Hugs |
thats terrible :( Im really sorry! I hope they dont try and come here and sell :thumbdown |
Connie, I am so sorry that you were betrayed and taken advantage of. I truly believe that your friend has lost so much by doing what she did. Friendship is more important and one day she will be sorry. I know how much your hurting right now and I just love your dresses and I especially loved your sweet personality and love that you put into your sales and that I am sure she cannot copy!!! |
Wow, that's pretty low. I've just had a friend let me down recently, so I feel your hurt. Sounds like you have quite a following here, so I doubt she'll hurt your business. Stay strong.:) |
