Really disappointing... Quote:

I certainly hope this thread does not turn into a bashing thread.. As for material... Joanne fabric has them all.. so no matter where you live they have the same material... I think if you buy dresses.. take a good look.. velcro around the neck and waist and a top part and a bottom part.. and so so many people now do matching bows.. |

I think picking people apart is not the way to go in life.. not for the person making this fuss... nor the person's sewing.. |
Well I was just about to comment on the pretty purple harness...now who's is that? I hadn't seen it but whoever's it is, it is pretty. |

Connie stated in a thread that she gave a pattern to a friend who was supposed to only make dresses for her dogs. Then she turned around and created a wesbite. I think everyone assumes it is Cory. Maybe Connie can clairfy if this is not the case. I am sure someone like Connie would argue with anyone saying her designs are not original. I have dresses from 4 different people on this site and they are all unique and different, so I must disagree. So to the person (who ever it is) that took Connie's pattern, that is just wrong. If it is not Cory, an apology is in order. |
its one thing to see a dress online and try to make something similar but its a whole different story when a friend shows you every detail and secret of how she makes dresses for her own business, and then you take those very same patterns, instructions, and secrets to make your own dress business and pass it off as your own without the consent of said friend. |

I do see department stores do the same thing....same styles come out each season, different stores, differents prices? I know sometimes it comes down to quality. I can see both sides though, feeling ripped of something you feel you've made your own. I'd support everyone if I could. :) |

Well you can believe what you want. I will believe that if you are a seller and get upset with some one making dresses when there is so many people buying...there is a problem.. Or is it the fact they were friends more then it is about the website or her making clothing. To me and some it sounds like a friend was upset that another friend is selling clothing now and worried about her business.. which she should not be at all... I guess it is a good way to strum up business tho... not the way I would like to see however... I hardly come on here anymore.. for the drama is far too much all the time.. It seems people want the business part of this site to get more attention then what this site was meant to be... I know both of these girls.. and I do not think this should be allowed..the snide sarcastic remarks does not bring the best out of people for sure.. I have seen threads where a seller will buy the same material..and a seller get upset,.. well fabric stores are open to any one who sews and wants to buy material.. I think no matter who it is if they have faith in their customers and secure in what they do.. No one has to belittle another.. |

"I want to learn how to make your doggie dresses and start a website, oh and go on YT?" The problem here is that they were friends, and 1 friend betrayed the other, one friend lied about her intentions. Dog dresses aside that is the fact. But, that is JMO. |
Adorable clothing!!! |
I am speaking in general terms of the incident. Still dont know if the OP of this thread is the one accused. |
I love your clothes too! I don't dress mine pets up to much but I love the pleated vest. That is adorable and something I could use. |

I stated in several posts that I didn't know if the OP was the one accused on another thread. Regardless of who it is, its wrong. I also stated that if it is not Cory, apologies are due. I know right from wrong that is all and certainly not arguing just stating facts. :) |

I think your site looks great! Nice photos, the dresses are gorgeous. You are very talented. Love that little sundress & matching panties outfit.:) |
Anne...I know you are good friends with Cory. I was also...or at least I thought I was. You cannot understand this unless you had been the one to build a business from scratch. I shared all my information with her...trusting that she was sewing for her own dogs, as she said. I gave her all my trade secrets and pattern. She says now she has changed the pattern, but that doesn't change the fact that I gave her detailed instruction and all the ways I do things...down to making the bow for the dress. It used to take me 20 minutes to a half hour to make just the bow. I then came up with a simple and easy way...I shared that with her. I made everything easy for her. I told her about the fabrics to look for at JoAnn's. She had been there 3 times and hadn't seen it. The next time she called, she said she had found the Tutti Fruitti and bought lots. I told her I was so glad they once again had the butterfly pattern so I could replenish my supply. She said she had bought some of that. Okay...right there tells you she knew I had that particular one. I recently saw pictures of vests she did for someone that was more of my fabric...even the striped fabric I'd gotten to go with the bodice. It was my best seller last year. She knew I had that fabric. I gave her info on where to get Drings, velcro...what kind of fabric I used for the liniing. I took numerous phone calls from her asking for more advice on how to do something. Even the first dog dress she sold, she called me to ask me how to resize it. I even answered that and kicked myself afterwards! I built my business all on my own with no help from anyone. I improved upon it as time went on and then share it all with someone I trusted. I realize she took sewing lessons, but they weren't teaching how to sew a dog dress. She got that from me. If she started a website where things were not so similar to mine, I wouldn't be so upset. Go look around other websites. Sure...some of us have some fabrics alike, but if I know someone else is featuring a fabric, I won't buy it out of respect for that seller. She told me when she wanted to know where I got the clear bags I package my dresses in that she wanted to store her girl's things to keep them dust free. That was a lie. She said she wasn't going to advertise her website...another lie. Anne...I am insulted that you would imply that I made that thread to get business. That was NO my intention at all. I'm sure that you have read the email that I sent Cory. I do not feel threatened by her, but maybe you took it as that. I did say that she has been to so many meet ups and met people personally, so of course, they will buy from her, rather than me, because they have met her. I don't care...it was the way I was betrayed by a friend. I have enough longtime, loyal customers. My business will continue to flourish and I can at least say I built it on my own and I am proud of it! |

I will say it again, you did nothing wrong Connie. It is a shame what has happened here! |
Connie I am so sorry that you were betrayed that way when you were trying to do something nice. :( |

Cory on the other hand is not. i don't know how someone can sleep at night knowing that they purposely lied and betrayed a good friend just to make a buck. |
Again this really stinks. And it royally reeks that anyone would imply that Connie is the one doing something devious in trying to drum up business which due to her current success she obviously doesn't need to do. This person took advantage of the friendship in a huge way and I would venture to say she has lost is the trust and love of a caring friend and hopefully that loss will be felt in a big way in the future. I value my friends above anything else and if any of us are lucky enough to find a friend the caliber of the person that Connie is (not to mention designer and entrepreneur) that is worth so much more than what would be gained through stealing and passing off her designs like what has obviously been done here. Hope it was worth it because you just lost an amazing friend. Would venture to say if someone cares so little about the friendship that they would steal what someone else worked so hard to get they were undeserving of the friendship to begin with! And Connie you are so right...your business will flourish and continue to thrive because it has been built on honest hard work, trial and error, thought and effort with your customer's satisfaction always in mind and that is evident in your product and customer service! Those of us who are your friends and clients believe in your business and are proud to call you friend! |
Ps. Since these designs were publicly stolen and publicly passed off as the OP's own original designs one would think a public apology would be in order? Does that anyone else agree?? |
