Period...TMI? Ok, i've noticed that as i get older my period gets heavier is this normal? I have a doctors appointment in two weeks because the last 4 months it has gotten to the point that I can't wear tampons anymore( i'm talking about the super max absorbency)because they get full(TMI) in 30 minutes! Has anyone have the same experience? |
I don't know how old you are, but the same thing started happening to my step-mom in her early 40s...she's 48 now. And it's not so much cramping, just very heavy bleeding. Her gyno told her nothing's wrong, that some women will just be or become heavy bleeders. But if you're concerned, I would definitely speak to your doctor about it. |
The above comment could be true OR you could have something wrong with your uterus! You need to have that checked out asap! If it is that heavy that is not normal! If you fill a pad in less than an hour something is wrong! Better to be safe than sorry! Get it checked! :-) |

Over time the lining of the uterus can thicken. When that happens the flow is heaver. Sometimes this is no big deal, other times you need to have a cnd done. I believe thats the terms. I have a close friend that is in her late 30's and had several cnd's done over the years, (she was always a heavy bleeder) last year she started seeing a new Dr. due to lack of Ins. coverage, this new dr. preformed a new type of procedure on her where they insert a wire mesh type balloon inside the uterus and use a form of electric current. I SHOULD NOTE IF YOU PLAN ON HAVING KIDS AT SOME POINT DONT DO THIS. She has seen night and day difference. She even went several months with just spotting for a period. I highly encourage you to see your ob to rule out any serious causes. I feel every woman should see there ob yearly and as needed for problems. |
That happend to me around 38 and then when I turned 42 I started going through menopause. I am 49 and I am done. So maybe your body is getting ready for that. My doctor said that I was a lil young to go through it, but I did have my children young. I wouldn't worry. |
Ditto, this happened to me around 40. I was so scared I went to the ER. Around 48 I completely stopped. Now I am starting my other symtoms, like sweats and memory loss. Welcome to the wonderful world of being a women! |

The exact same thing happened to me too...I was in my early 50's. For me, it was the beginning of the big "M."...memopause!!!!!! I agree with the others regarding getting check out by your doctor. |

I was exactly getting my period every 28 days until last year . . .I missed my period completely in January and it didn't show up until the middle of February . . .I was 41 at the time . . .my sister's joked with me and told me I was pregnant, etc etc . . .even though I knew I wasn't I bought a pregnancy test anyhow . . .I called my Obgyn who I just saw in October and he wasn't too concerned . . .when it finally did arrive, it didn't leave . . .my usual 7 day period was going on 14 days with no signs of stopping. I called my obgyn and he sent me for a blood test (pregnancy of course) to rule out miscarriage . . .I don't know how many times I told them I wasn't pregant that it wasn't even possible since my husband had gotten his vasectomy in 1995 . . .apparently, everyone must of thought I fooled around or something . . . He also told me that it could be because my body was getting ready for the change . . .another 2 weeks go by . . .still bleeding . . .he examines me and says that my uterus is enlarged and the lining is extremely thick . . .he scheduled me for a D&C . . .finally, after 6 weeks of bleeding! That was last April . . .thankfully, my periods have been back to the 28 day cycle thing . . .I'm hoping it stays that way . .. I have no idea what could of caused what happened . . .and my obgyn says there isn't any guarantee it won't happen again . . .:( |
That happened to somebody I know. NovaSure worked well (so far). If it is very heavy and allowed to continue, it can lead to anemia. |

I can't wait to see my ob gyn now. We want to get pregnant that is another reason i want to see the doc. |
I could tell you all my horror stories, but I will spare you the details, but my body was doing some disgusting things. I started having problems shortly after my last child at 25. I put up with problems that gradually got worse over the years and my OB telling me it was all normal for 14 years and wanting to treat me for depression and all sorts of medications and failed procedures. I finally told them I couldn't do it any more and wanted a hysterectomy. I was 39. After my uterus was examined it was diagnosed as Adenomyosis. I had never heard of it before. Anyone having the heaviness you are describing, should look this up. |
