Funny how many twists and turns this thread has taken but it really is all on topic. The 60's were shaped by a generation of post-war children and we were all affected by the wars our fathers fought. Hats off to all the vets. We remember and love you all. |

[QUOTE=Woogie Man;3112749]Bless your Dad for what he's been through. My dad was the only survivor from his plane and spent the rest of the war as a POW. To the day he died, he would say that 8 good men died that day and he was the sorry S.O.B. that lived. He was a good man but was haunted by what he'd been through. The struggles these men went through took a toll on the families as well, as I'm sure you know. Funny how many twists and turns this thread has taken but it really is all on topic. It really made me think when I started reading what you guys went through just here in the US! Salute to all you Vets. My daughter was eating lunch at Cheesecake Factory in Bethesda and she was in Uniform, well when she went to pay and the waiter told her that her bill was paid by someone eating there and left her a message, "Thanks for Serving our Country" Brought tears to her eyes. The world is changing... |
Lissette, you must be very proud of your daughter. There are so many vets today coming home with tremendous injuries and your daughter will be a part of helping them. Despite all the things said about today's generation, it's great to see some young people with goals and determination. My oldest son has been in the Air Force Reserve for 10 years and I'm very proud of him. |
