Mary4 | 04-25-2010 06:46 AM | FB I have Facebook and love it. I'm addicted. (I'm out on medical leave from work and somewhat isolated so it saves my sanity.) I love keeping up with family far away and seeing pictures of their kids. I love reconnecting with old friends that I haven't seen in years. My kids are not happy that I have a Facebook account. They think no one over 30 should have one, haha. (Fastest growing population for FB users is people in their forties.) I am friends with my kids on FB but I've promised to not write on their walls. If I want to say something to them, I do it in a private message. I have also promised to not friend request their friends. But if their friends send me a friend request, I can accept, but, again, no writing on their walls.
It was through Facebook that I got my puppy Charlie. My cousin's wife knew a (I think) BYB. They knew someone that thought they'd like to start breeding Yorkies. Turned out they couldn't sell the puppies. My cousin bought one (they're real animal people. He owns several greyhounds plus they have 2 large dogs and a cat.) They bought Charlie's brother for $400. (The people thought they'd get $1600 per puppy. There was one left and my cousin posted on FB that they knew of a Yorkie looking for a good home and that he was free.
I was NOT looking for a dog but I had a "feeling" about the post. Charlie has been a dream dog. He's a perfect fit for our family. Of course, when I agreed to take him I knew NOTHING about puppies or Yorkies at all. After doing some research on here and other places, I realized I could be in big trouble, that he could have health issues. We were very fortunate. When I took him to the vet, the only "problem" he has is an overbite. Lucky for us he was perfectly healthy (even though he hadn't seen a vet.) Now he's had his first shots and he goes back on 5/13.
Charlie is a little love. All of us have fallen head over heels in love with him. He's playful, but luckily not hyper. He loves to cuddle with us (though he definitely has a preference for the "girls" in the house!
Wow, I got way off track here!! Anyway, Facebook brought us Charlie!! |
