Is there a difference between sleeping at night and sleeping during the day I'm working at night, from 10pm-6am. I sleep during the day, I get enough 8 hours of sleep. But someone told me that sleeping during the day is not enough and is different from night sleep, it may result to some illness.. How true is this? |

It is my understanding that if you always work nights, it is a lot easier on your body than changing shifts. If you are used to sleeping in the day time and you sleep well, it is ok as long as you are not changing back and forth all the time. Audrey |

It is usually OK if you do not switch back and forth - but - people usually want to sleep "normal" hours on their days off and this constitutes "back and forth" (sleeping during the day some, during the night some). I know people who work nights and keep the daytime sleeping schedule all the time. I think this is the best. Some people just cannot sleep during the day, no matter how long they work nights. I think if it is working for you and you feel OK, then it is perfectly fine! |
I think I'm with it, I can sleep during the day, and staying alive during the night, some would say that I'm a nocturnal. I'm just worrying that my life span would shorten just like what others say, prone to illness, etc. |

I don't think so unless you are tired all the time and feel miserable or can't get enough sleep. If you feel good, sleep well, are awake at night to do your job, then I think you'll be fine. |
