QUEEN of controversy! so, since i have been deemed as someone who posts threads just to stir up the controversy (even when being accused of not posting enough in my "controversial" threads), i figured - heck, what do i have to lose?! the thing about YT (and just about every online forum) is THIS: people LOVE to debate! why do people go to forums? to learn? yes. to educate? yes. to debate? YES! i have been accused of only posting in the "controversial threads" which is not true at all. have i started threads that are controversial? obviously i have. do i ONLY post in cotroversial threads? absolutely not! this is the thing, and it's human nature i believe: when threads are started which are POSITIVE in nature, only a few people (if any) reply. when a controversial thread is posted, the boards get burned up! if you don't like drama (for those pot stirrers out there) then why don't you use your energy on those positive posts? oh, i know why! they just aren't as fun! i have posted other threads just asking for advice and have gotten just a handful of responses. i post a thread on a "controversial topic" and people just can't type fast enough! so instead of feeding my "need for drama" by posting on my threads, why don't you put me on ignore, or just simply not reply? i think we all know the answer to that. |
*Sigh* It's late, I'm tired and off to dreamland hopefully, I try to stay out of the more controversial threads, I have enough drama in my own life, I don't need to start it, or participate in it on a public forum. I just wish everyone would respect that people have differing opinions, accept that and move on to the next thing. It seems like lately these negative threads are becoming more and more and it's starting to get a tad depressing:rolleyes: |
darlene, i agree - and that's my point! look through the threads and see which ones have the most replies... it's not the sweet ones, the cute ones, the desperate ones... it's the ones that are controversial. i don't need to prove a point - the numbers speak for themselves. |
Let's make this a nice, sweet, fun thread... :D. I have a idea, I am going to start a new one now |
brendah - good idea! and let me play psychic - since you have announced that you will post a new, positive thread - everyone will jump on it just to prove a point! it would be nice though if people posted more on positive threads without it having to be pointed out that the positive threads are overlooked. i'm no mathematician, but i guarantee if we could figure the number of replies to positive threads vs. negative ones, the results would be overwhelming (or underwhelming in my opinion). |
I have seen that a lot of heated threads on here. Ok I have a idea. Let's keep this one positive and it don't have anything about it in the title. It has a title that looks like it could become contraversal. (please do not take offense, I don't want it taken that way) So we don't want that to happen. We can keep this one going happy :) |
that would be nice, ideally. unfortunately, the title of the thread alone will attract all of the stirrers - and then the comment you made about keeping it positive will force them to do so. my point is that i would like to see those positive threads that are truly positive get more attention. i just saw a thread about a dog who hates fidel getting recognition! how exciting is that?! yet, the response was nothing compared to the heated threads. |

I don't know what kinds of posts you do but this is exactly the kind that are deemed to attract controversary - just the title alone is going to get attention .......but I think you know this :) |

"Queen of Controversy"? Nah, believe me honey - you don't even come close! That position was taken years ago and she has yet to be dethroned. :p |
I started a thread called "Thank you YT" which was an opportunity to thank a yorkie talk member for something positive they did for you and NO ONE posted on it! It really bummed me out and completely proves your part 100%! people love drama and negativity way more than trying to be positive and encouraging one another! The bottom line is we can't change anyone else! All we can do is commit to being positive ourselves and making a difference in our world and being positive ourselves! It's pointless to lecture although sometimes it's good to once in awhile point things out like you have done in this thread! But what speaks the loudest to the people around us is to practice what we preach in a BIG way! Posting on anything positive, welcoming new members, sending them friend requests, encouraging someone going through a rough time, saying thank you out of the blue and not being part of uneccessary drama!! There are rimes when it is necessary to speak up but it should be the minority in a track record on YT that is mostly positive! I've started a "positive quote of the day" on my own page! Good reminder for myself first and might uplift someone who visits my page! If we concentrate on ourselves positivity is inevitably contagious! I feel like we've heard your heart in this thread and I appreciate you for doing something as unpopular as pointing it out! Don't let the negative people win! Stay and fight to be positive and commit to something new today! Have a great day! Mary |
Whoops! Didn't mean to post twice!!! Sorry!! :-) |
Meant to say "proves your point 100%" not proves your part! Yikes! It's early folks!! |

Here's a stick to stick in this pot of crap that YOU started and want to stir. Learn the difference between debating a subject vs playing games with an uncouth subject matter, which the latter is your obvious objective. |
Didn't you have enough "Debating" yesterday? Why start up again?:( I never used the ignore buttom before, guess it's time to tap it. |
The great thing about life and internet forums and even YT is that you only get sucked into controversy if you want to be. Starting threads bashing the forum, the people, or threads likes this will of course bring out the controversy but of course that is there stated purpose. If you dont want to be part of the controversy it is very easy to ignore. Read lots of threads, learn as much as you can, get to know the people, and your experience here will be a positive one. |
Well, in general, America thrives off of negativity. So it's going to be pretty much the same on ANY internet forum you go on. Just turn on the news... this person got shot, that girl got stabbed and raped, a building burned down, this Pit Bull was burned to death (just happened here)... it never ends. That's why I hardly watch the news. But I find nothing wrong with having a few debates on YT and honestly, I don't find that most of them get too out of hand. Of course it makes things interesting. I am not involved in much "drama" in real life and neither am I on YT. But the thing with a thread such as "Wow, we did this today!" can only be replied to so much... there's only so much people can say without being repetitive. That's why you won't find as many replies to positive threads as debatable threads. But I don't see a TON of negativity on here... I do think the positive outweighs the negative and that's why I continue to post here. It's fun to share stories and learn about the one thing we ALL can agree we love... our dogs. |

Also, just want to point out ... YT has a "secret weapon" called Dan/Admin who will only put up with krap to a certain point. He and moderators keep peace here and that's the reason it is such a large community with a loyal member base and so much useful information!! ;) |
