We have had stainless steel appliances, since we redid our kitchen in 2004. Love the way it looks, but it is a little high maintanance on the fingerprints. i just use a wet wash rag, then dry it with a towel. I would do it all over again, so not that much work. :) |
Thanks Lisa! |
We bought our ss appliances almost a year ago, and they are LG. I love the LED lights in the fridge, the stove has a flat surface and buttons (no knobs), and the dishwasher has the buttons on top (also has a ss interior, which I like, and no heating element at the bottom so you won't melt anything if it falls :)). So far, we have no complaints with anything :D |
I have the SS GE Profile too and really love them. We also have the confection microwave which is GREAT! Not only is it an extra oven but also has the microwave with it! We haven't replaced the dishwasher yet but that is next. We have the plastic interior and it had so much soap build up it was just gross. So the other day I went on a mission to find something to clean it. I read that you can add a cup of white vinegar and baking soda to clean any soap build up. After you can add a cup to your loads to keep it smelling great. I tried it and it really worked! |
Don't shy away from real stainless if that's what you like. I clean my appliances with WD-40 and it's awsome!!!! I know it sounds creepy but it cleans and polishes. It does smell industril for a minute but it passes then you have super clean and shiny appliances. I have a stainless gas stove and it cleans the top like brand new...trust me:) Pledge stainless polish is great too. |

I have stainless steel on the interior of my dishwasher, and had no problems. My dishes go in there clean, though. From everything I've read, stainless steel is quieter, it doesn't stain, and there aren't odors. I have a Kitchen Aid now that broke after not having it long (the control panel). It probably doesn't pay to repair it, so I am looking for one now. I looked at the Frigidaire Professional. I'm considering getting it. It looks really nice. Frigidaire is now owned by Electrolux, so it is European style. It has a cup that will hold food particles that you have to empty instead of grinding up the food. That makes it quieter and, for me, there usually aren't food particles when I put the dishes in. I'm a little OCD about some things, and not at all about others. I really like the look of stainless steel exterior. Bonny, your kitchen is beautiful. |
We have Frigidaire stainless steel appliances and absolutely love them. Stainless steel and granite are a must! My stove is ss with a black top surface; cleaning the black top was a nightmare for me at first, but after trying numerous products, I found that Dawn and micro fiber cleaning cloths work best. For cleaning ss, I only use products that state for ss. |
We put in the SS a few months ago and now I see on the fridge 3 long streak marks. it looks like something was dripped down it in 3 places. I can't get it off. Any suggestions? No one is owning up doing it so I don't know what caused it. I hate the way it looks and want to see if I can get a replacement door if I can't get it off. Thanks |

Were you able to get the streaks off? |
No I tried rubbing hard with vinegar and water and now the streak marks look a little less noticeable because now their are covered by a wider area of where I cleaned. I am going to try the WD 40 on a small area to see if it works. |
