A little candy dish I made in 1976!

I was pregnant with my youngest son when I made this. We put jelly beans in it every year. Was wondering if you think my youngest son and his fiance would like to have it, (since I did date it when I made it) or should I continue to use it each year? He has never said anything about this candy dish, so just wondering.

That is a very adorable dish! My suggestion would be to take into consideration your relationship with your son's fiancé and her personality. My mom has made the most wonderful crochet quilts/comforters (don't know which is the right word) and table cloths. Some are hand embroidered. She spent countless hours working on these since I was small, and I even had a hand at working on these with them. That's how she taught me to crochet. Her biggest fear is passing something she worked on so hard to my brothers if their future wives won't value the craftsmanship and love she has put into each handmade object. (she made one for each of us) I think she said I'll end up inheriting them all as I do know the value of her work, and have even put in a little work in them as well. Hope this helps!

That is adorable. I think they would love to have something you made while pregnant with your son. However to make sure you might want to ask them.

What an adorable candy dish! You are very talented!
 
I would keep the dish, continue to put bring it out each Easter and use it. Then when your son has children you can share the candy dish and jelly beans with your grandbaby. Leave it to your son in your will.

Boys are really odd birds, I bet he would "love to have it", but would at the same time feel sad that the dish wasn't where it was supposed to be.

sooooo cute! I was born in 1976 too! :)

I'd pass it on if I were you and pray your son made the right choice in a wife to deserve something so special! :)

I think it's a wonderful idea to pass it on to your son and your future daughter-in-law.

I agree with Cindy. I would hold on to it. Later, once you really get to
know your future DIL and her likes and dislikes and know for sure
she will enjoy and appriciate the sentiment behind it, then I would
offer it to her.


I also loved ceramics around that time. I made the turkey and pumpkin
candy dish. I never saw the bunny. I love it.

I agree with holding on to it for now. It also depends on the DIL. My MIL is just now turning loose of treasured family heirlooms, because she knows I appreciate the sentimental value and I also collect antiques. I treasure the pieces that belonged to my and DH parents, grandparents and I also have a few things that belonged to great grandparents. They mean so much more to me than just a collection.

He has a 10 year old son and won't be having anymore kids. His fiance decorated their home in a unique style all her own with beautiful things collected on their trips to different countries. This little candy dish would look so out of place, but I will ask them anyway. Better safe than sorry huh? ;)

You bet. I didn't pack it away this year. I put in up in the top shelf of the kitchen cabinet, so easy to take down for you to see. ;)

I made a zillion pieces and gave as gifts. I just loved doing ceramics and still have all my supplies. Bet you and I probably made a lot of the same ones. ;)
