Don't buy a Dell!!! I am so frustrated, I figured I would vent to you all! I got a letter in the mail today from Dell telling me that after recent review, my account has been closed. I'll back up a little bit. I have been a Dell account holder since 2003, when I purchased my first computer. I was very happy with them. I paid off that computer in two years, and didn't use the account again until 2005, when I bought my husband a computer. I have continued to pay down that computer, and recently wanted a laptop as well. Since I have an account with them (and had plenty of credit remaining!) of course, I purchased with them again. Don't get me wrong, this thread is not to knock their product. I have purchased three computers with them in the past seven years and have loved all of them. So, back to this letter. It stated that this decision was made because I had made a couple of late payments within the past year (none of which was near 30 days late, which is the amount of time you have to be late when they report to the credit agencies... maybe 10 days late at best I was) and my balance was too high in comparison to my credit limit (I'm $1000 under my credit limit!!)! I'm so pissed! In today's day and age with the economy the way it is they're lucky to have a customer who not only pays their bill but continues to buy from them (I bought the laptop just this past November!). It's no one's fault but my own for having a couple of payments that were a week or two late, but give me a break. Not to mention the fact that I have a very good credit score, so it's not even based on that... which it should be!! I'm so mad I want to call and scream at them, but I know it won't get me anywhere! Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. This will be the last time Dell ever gets my business. I should have listened to my DH and bought a MAC! |
No one is tollerating late payments I have a credit card that I was NEVER late on and they raised it to over 25% interest!!! WHY? Because others arent paying their debts, so they are making everyone else pay!!! GRRR! This same thing has happened to several other people I know. So, it doesnt surprise me that Dell did this. Everyone is losing money and they are afraid if bills get higher they wont collect. It is very annoying because crap happens and sometimes you pay late. But, it doesnt mean you/I will always be late. They dont care, they treat you like crap!! They quickly forget the MANY years of paying on TIME! I know it totally stinks, sorry this happened to you. |
Exactly! Not only did I go 6 years with not one late payment, I paid off my first computer in two years! The same thing annoys me with the home market right now, too! All these people who shouldn't have gotten loans that they knew they wouldn't be able to pay in 5 years time just get off with a slap on the wrist... they're even talking about forgiving them financially for it! I pay my mortgage on time every month and what do I get??? Nothing! Uggghhh it's too much! |
I'll never buy another Dell again, but for a different reason... their tech supposrt!!! OMG! I went through a week of hell with them... calling them 1-2 times a day to fix the probllem. Nothing worked. My final day the woman had me turn off power, had me take parts out of the computer... and then she told me to turn the computer. What??? I'm sitting there with parts all over the floor and she tellls me to turn it ON! Is she freaking nuts?!?!?! She got a big piece of my mind, and it wasn't pretty! She was all over herself trying to calm me down, but I wouldn't give her that pleasure. When I got done I slammed the phone down. Damn that felt good. Calmed down & called my local computer guy. I've read recently that their tech support was still the same. So sorry about them closing down your account. Taking care of good customers doesn't seem to be a priority of many companies these days. Every one of my cc finance charges have been increased recently & I always pay on time & have very good credit score. |

i totally agree that Dell's tech support sucks even if you can understand what they are saying due to the language of many of the techs since most are in foreign countries. I have bought two from them but next time, I am going to Walmart. They are selling HP's, Mac's and also Dell. |
Sorry for your troubles. I switched to Mac because I had numerous electrical problems with all of my Dell desktops. Tech support didn't impress me either. They almost always told me that the problem was my software and that I should call Microsoft. Sure. |

Needless to say that I am totally loving my Hewlett packard laptop these days. Dell has not customer service/support worth anything. I won't even buy one of of QVC when they have the deals and easy payment plans. :thumbdown the desktop that I am using at home is a dell (inherited from hubby's-old work computer) and when I started having problems, found out that dell got lazy when they loaded a bunch of computers in 2005--they just copied the Microsoft software instead of loading each computer. So as a result, I had to pay a tech guy to "fix" my problem, which wasn't hard, but it was money and time out of my pocket for something that hubby paid for when bought this computer. |
I know that I will never buy one again. I have been having a ton of problems with mine and I am not a happy customer. Positive note, IT is a beautiful morning out:) |

Ugh, I HATE Dell. I had a few Dell's, both laptop and PC over the years and every single one began having issues and problems within 6 months-1 year of having it. Sooo annoying!! I had an HP laptop for a while and it was pretty good. It got alot of viruses towards the end but it was probably my fault. I now am loving my MAC and never going back!! |

My dell desktop is useless. I had to get a new cd/dvd player-thing within 3 months? (are you kidding me? I thought I bought this brand new!) and 3 months after that I started getting the "blue screen of death". I've had it fixed a few times, and yet no one seems to be able to properly fix it. I have these constant error pop us and no one can get rid of them (some people think it was caused my bad installation when I bought it!). They reformatted it and everything, wiped it clean, started over and nothing. Piece of JUNK!! It now shuts down whenever it feels like it (like mid working!), and I have trojan virus' all the time and I don't even download ANYTHING. I give up. I stopped doing schoolwork/important stuff on here when it would shut down and leave me stranded losing SAVED work! SAVED WORK! as if!!! I bought a Mac Laptop 2 years ago and I have not had ONE SINGLE PROBLEM. It is AWESOME!! I will never go back to anything but MAC! I'm just waiting for this Dell desktop to die. DIE bitch! die! |

I read buyer reviews from QVC on the Dells. Many were having hard drives crash in the first week. One person had 2-3 hard drives crash right after being repaired. Not for me... life's too short! |
BellaBlue, I can't believe you have had that many Dell's and not had problems like that. Wow! Mom to Hot Rod, I know the feeling of losing every single thing on the hard drive. Oh, what a hard thing to go through. I had that happen once to on another computer. My whole life was on that computer. I'm glad it's so much easier to back things up now than it was years back. I highly recommend an external hard drive to everyone. Well, it's great if you have it and actually use it. : ) |
