Don't worry about negative posts - some people always seem to try and find their own 'cause' be it totally inappropriate or maybe they just didn't grasp your post (over their heads). I am very glad to hear a better outcome than I thought it might have been. Sorry the owners of the pit were of no help - I hope this dog is dealt with properly - In my opinion, if it attacked for no reason - it will do it again, and next time the out come for owner or pet might not be as lucky....:thumbdown

What an answer to prayer! Thank God your son is ok AND even his puppy. That is great! So brave of him to not give up in getting the dog off his pup. Wow. I am sure you feel so much better! I am glad you have the support of YT. I am sure I would have done the same thing by coming here and sharing what was on my heart. I am sure you were going crazy being so far away, but thank God everything is OK.

I really hope they take the dog away from these owners. It is obvious they are not responsible and do not deserve such a dog.

:thumbup::thumbup:I'm so glad both your son and his puppy are doing well. He must have been so brave and courageous seeing that dog and feeling it attack him and fighting so hard for his little dogs life!!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers, we are in Chicago, we had to drive all night, but arrived a couple hours before my sons surgery...his left hand was damaged pretty bad but Dr.s feel he will have full use of his hand, it is just going to take some time, and some physical therapy...
Armani, had some surgery too, he is doing awesome! what a trooper!!! he is actually happy and prancing around! He is now at my soon to be daugherinlaws parents house, they have been awesome, to take on Armani, so we can be with my son....we went and visited him tonight, to give him some loving from my son.

I have to go back and read all the messages, I just wanted to hurry and write what was happening, this is first time I have been by a computer.

I have to say how PROUD I am of my son, he fought to save his puppy, and wouldnt give up till Armani was safe... without a thought for himself.

My son was walking out the door of his building and turned right and didnt see the pit coming around the corner, he attacked Armoni's jaw first and my son, jumped on top of the pit, the pit turned and latched onto my sons hand, my son went down then the pit turned and got Armani by the throat...my son was on him again, even though he was in terrible pain, the ppl that owned the pit were yelling at my son not to hurt THERE dog!!! a neighbor saw this and handed my son different kitchen untencils, through the door, to try and pry the pits mouth open, and the owner of the pit kept grabbing them and throwing them, finally they handed him a crowbar and he pryed his mouth open and he let go of the puppy, the neighbor grabbed Armani and pulled him into the building. Then my son still had the pit....the owner PUSHED my son off the pit, he fell over, and had no strength left and the pit came back at him, lunging at his face he put his arm up and the pit locked onto it..the owner finally got chain around the pit and got him off my son....THEN they left my son laying out in the street and LEFT!..the neighbors had called police and ambulance, they pulled my son into the building and locked the door and waited with him till ambulance got there...It was such a violent experience, it just breaks my heart...

sorry so long.....

WOW - that had to be terrifying for your son ! I'm so glad they're both ok - that easily could have been so much worse.....

roseslevi 04-05-2010 05:02 AM

So glad that everyone is doing better.......will also keep praying for a speedy recovery....Rose and Levi

after reading all the post, I know I should of put dog instead of the breed, I am an animal lover, I love every single one out there...I blame the owners, if you are going to have a big animal, esp. one with a bad reputation, and you love your animal, then you need to take precautions, as in training and leashes. What I dont get, cause I love my dogs (rotty and 2 yorkies) why would you ever put your dog in a situation, where you might have it taken away from you, or worse yet, put down?

I am very emotional today, kind of like whew! and letting it out. I would never want to offend anyone, but will stick up for myself, as a wife, mother and grandmother...so if anyoe else thought it was in bad taste to post what I was going through the other day, I am sorry, I am on YT alot, and have talked to alot of you, and felt like I could come in here and ask for some good thought and prayers..

I'm thrilled your son and his pup are going to be okay. What an absolutely horrifying ordeal for them to go through. I do hope the owner is prosecuted.

You've no need to apologize, as you did nothing wrong by posting a request for prayer.

oh yes - I totally agree - you just went thru what most of us only hear about - NO APOLOGIES ! Just take care of your son and take a big sigh of relief - it must have been hell waiting to get there and see him for yourself...

I hope they do go after the owners - I don't blame dogs but do blame owners when I hear about stuff like this - there's too many people out there that have no control or take precautions when they have large animals and its people like your son and his dog who suffer (and could be killed)

I really am glad they're both going to be ok. What a nightmare....

Patti 04-05-2010 06:04 AM

How terrible. I am so glad to hear your son and Armani are going to be ok. What your son did was amazing.

Sookie 04-05-2010 06:21 AM

I'm so glad your son and Armani are doing a little bit better today. No matter how old our children are, they are still our "babies". I'm glad all the YT prayers helped - what a horrible experience this must have been for all of you. ((HUGS))

marcie 04-05-2010 06:44 AM

What an ordeal.... I am so happy everything is going well. Still praying for their recovery. Prayers from YT having been non stop!

It's wonderful to read your son and his puppy will be ok.
What an horrific story. Your son is very brave and Armani is quite
the little trooper. I hope he get's justice for this somehow.

Right now we are concerned about infection, we get through another 24hours without it, and we will be started on the right road. Yes, there is some nerve and tissue damage, along with 24 of the 27 bones in the hand and wrist broken.
Wow! What an unbelievably brutal attack. It sounds like he hand was crushed in the jaws of that monster! Hopefully with physical and occupational therapy he will be able to regain full use of his hand. I broke my arm in 3 places last year in June and it was a very painful and long recovery with months of physical therapy. It's approaching a year since my fall and I still have not regained full use of my arm. I cannot even imagine having 24 broken bones~unimaginable!

I hope that your meeting today with the tenant association went well and either this dog is removed from these people. Why are people so horrible? :(

Connie 04-05-2010 11:57 AM

I am so glad to see your updates and know that your son and Armani are doing better. I've thought of you all so much since reading your thread. That poor hand and arm of his is going to take a lot of healing and therapy. Bless his heart! What a hero he was to come to the rescue of his dog.

I hope you get some action whereas that tenant and dog can be evicted from that complex. I also hope justice is served and your son's and Armani's medical bills will be covered by the responsible party. It is unimaginable that the owner did not help stop this brutal attack.

Don't feel you have to defend yourself for coming on here and posting a prayer thread. I have done the same thing during a crisis...on pins and needles and just needed to talk to someone. The remark in the one post was very uncalled for. Bless your heart. I'm so sorry for your son's and his dog's injuries, but so thankful it wasn't even worse!

MaddiesMommie 04-05-2010 07:22 PM

Thank God your son and Armani are doing better.
Prayers DO work and certainly are needed in times like this.
I will keep them in my prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.

MauiGirl 04-05-2010 09:48 PM

Thank God your son and pup are doing ok, and I pray that they will both have a full recovery. As others have said the emotional impact may not be totally seen or understood for a long time, and it certainly is something that will be with all of you forever.

Bless you all!

Armani Alexis 04-05-2010 09:54 PM

Just saw this thread...

Praying for a full recovery for your son and Armani!

loveshay 04-05-2010 10:49 PM

Thanks again for all the kind words and Prayers.

Lorenzo is coming home on wed. if he keeps doing so well WHOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I cannot wait to get him back into his home! He is so anxious to see Armani, for himself and make sure he is okay.

We accomplished alot today, saw a lawyer and met with the building Owners. Sad part is there is not alot we can do about getting the dog out of the building, since the owners of the building, were not aware of this being a vicious dog, BUT now that they have been made aware,if someone else is hurt, or another animal is attacked, they know they will be liable and could be sued. So we are pretty confident, that they dont want that to happen, and will tell the owners of the dog, that he has to go. I only pray it is before wed. so we can bring my son home, without the threat of running into this dog, and he can relax.

There is a court date in May, with animal control, where these ppl will be made accountable for there dog. We have been told it is not a big deal and they will only be charged with a $50.00 fine, but we decided to press it, and make these owners have to stand there in front of everyone, and be shamed, for there actions.

chattiesmom 04-05-2010 10:56 PM

I am so glad to hear that Lorenzo will be coming home on Wednesday and that Armani is ok. Sounds like prayers for their recovery have been answered. Please keep us updated with the court proceedings - I am glad that you have chosen to pursue the matter legally. Will contine to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

cheryl19 04-06-2010 02:49 AM

soooo glad to hear your son is coming home!!! that's great news!!! :D

on another note, i think that you might want to contact the D.A.'s office at the least to see if you can press charges against the owner of the dog under these circumstances. if i am remembering correctly, the person shoved your son and also prevented him from being helped by the other neighbor. that sounds like a sufficient level of participation to warrant more than a $50 fine. it's at least a battery.

also, sometimes lawyers don't know always know what they're talking about, so if the lawyer you consulted said it wasn't a big deal, i would immediately get some referrals and contact several more. almost all of them will do a free consultation and you can at least get a consensus on the law in that area. this just sounds like a very minimal response to such a serious situation.

keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers....

ARCHIE 04-06-2010 10:46 AM

I am so happy your son is coming home. Wishing him a speedy recovery
and little Armani one as well. It's so difficult to think they are giving
this vicious dog a second change and have not taken him from the owner's.
Now that's scary and nut's IMO. Next time it could be a child. This just
dosen't make sence to me at all. That dog needs to be put down.
What are the authorities thinking? Fine, $50.00? that to me is an insult.

Bianca 04-06-2010 10:53 AM

So happy to read your post. Know that I am still sending positive thoughts and love :hug::hug:

StacyDufner 04-06-2010 08:02 PM

I am so glad to hear your son and his lil one are going to be ok. I know there will be a lot of recovery time for him. (I worked in the OR for 14 year have help repair many hands) I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

loveshay 04-14-2010 07:54 PM

Hi everyone....we are back home, Lorenzo and Armani are doing well...thanks really for all your thoughts and prayers, you just dont know how much I appreciated each and everyone...

My son, has some movement in his fingers (so relieved)...wanted to throw a party, we were so excited..he has a long way to go, but doing awesome...Armani is back to being a big puppy, like nothing has ever happened...he was so excited to see my son, as much as my son was sp excited to see him.

On the crummy part, the dog is still in the building...we never saw him one time, and to this date my son has never seen him either. My son has decided to put his loft up for sale and find something else. Sad he just bought it a yr and a half ago, but the thought of looking over his shoulder constantly, is not something he is wanting to do..We have tired everything we can think of to have this dog removed from the building, Lorenzo has pressed charges, so now waiting for that court date, he has one in May with animal control...I guess I was niave, and thought things would be taken care of immediately (always is on tv or in the news) but things dont go that way in real life.

But thanks again to you all!

MauiGirl 04-14-2010 09:45 PM

Thank goodness you son and pup are doing ok. I hope he makes a full recovery, and someday can put this behind him. Too bad you have to "fight" for justice, but I hope he prevails in court. Good luck.

Reese1 04-15-2010 02:44 AM

I'm glad that your son and pup are recovering nicely!
I can't believe the dog is back in the building after such an attack. That is shocking!
I just read this morning about a 7 day old infant that was attacked and killed by a pitt while the child's teenage mom was asleep next to him. So awful!
