Starting a doggie business? Okay, I've been seriously thinking about starting a business making dog treats. I have some treats that I make for Reesie and he just loves them and they are the only treats I give him. I just feel better knowing that his treats are all natural, and I don't have to worry about what it is he is eating. Anyway, for those of you who have your own businesses, what are some things that I need to consider? I'm from Ohio and I've looking into the laws, and from what I can tell, there are no restrictions on baked goods. I understand the cost for a website, but what about being able to pay online? I have not been able to figure that one out? Where do I go from here? Thanks for your help!:) |
Congratulations on your decision to start your own business! Most banks and even credit unions have service bundles for small business owners which now include e-commerce which will care for MC, Visa and check payments. You may also want to consult your local Chamber of Commerce for free seminars that focus on small businesses. Chambers are a wonderful way to gather ideas, advice and referals and to network with folks like your self. The more people you come in contact with the better. Good Luck!! |
Perhaps ebay could be a great place to intoduce your buisness :) People could pay using their paypal account. I know I would be interested in buying natural doggie treats for my babies. Packaging is one of the things that I feel would be important. Keeping the treats fresh and wholesome is what I would be looking for . Making certain that their are all very good ingredients , and healthy too. Starting out, I would try and get the word out by telling close friends about your doggie treats , and to dog lovers . Printing out flyers and pictures is anther great way to start. :animal-pa |
where in ohio do you live my best friend is opening a pet store sometime in the near future (not sure when,cant find a store) its a all natural kind of thing if you live close to canton when she gets up and running im sure she would love to give you a shelf for your treats let me know and ill put you in contact |
Wow coincidence! I was online this afternoon for the same reason, looking into setting up a website for my sweaters. I was looking on Go Daddy and they actually have whole packages for setting up the website with online catalog, ordering and payment capability, webhosting, etc. They have lots of good info there even if you don't use Go Daddy to set everything up. I think one of the options they offered was to take paypal as a method of payment. If you want to take credit cards directly instead of through paypal you will have to set it up with your bank. They'll give you a merchant ID number and all the info as far as fees, etc. Paypal is the better route if at all possible becaue merchant fees for credit cards are ridiculous and they keep going up. Right now I think they're anywhere from 3% to 8% of the transaction amount depending on the bank and the type of card. Good luck! |
