Any suggestions for a video contest? USA Today is doing a video contest for dogs. Top four winners have their video shown at the end of a new Marmaduke movie coming out this summer. Only problem, for me, is I can't use copyrighted music. And 50 percent of the judging is on humor. I can't figure out how to make it funny without having the music. I like the Rawhide video I posted recently, but it's just not the same without the music. Any suggestions? Megan's gonna record Winter Wonderland for me. I might be able to put some funny video to go along with it. We'll see... If anyone's interested in the contest, check it out. Marmaduke Livin' Large Contest - USATODAY.com. |
sorry no ideas here Mike...but i am sure you will come up with something...you always do! looking forward to seeing the video! |
Mike do you know someone one with a Mac that has Garage band, that can make some funny music!! I know there are some really good Mac users here, maybe they can help you come up with a little tune!! |
Mike, I always think of your captions as very funny, along with the music. I don't have definite ideas, but maybe you could focus on your captions to convey the humor more so than music. Or.....have you ever considered writing your own little song? Another idea, I remember a video site you got us all to making videos through - One True Media (I think), could you not use the music they offered for free, was it copyrighted? |
I'm doing it, too! I'm completely out of ideas... I started a video but it's not very funny. ha! I'm using various clips of Jackson... and using the voice-over thing in iMovie to kind of narrate. Maybe you could do something like that? I'm curious too... do you think we're also not allowed to use the standard imovie music? I wasn't sure so I didn't put any in. It also says Multiple separate entries are allowed, as long as they are each unique Videos. so I might make 2. |
You could just do butt shots and you could be singing "shake your booty"...of course it would scare the heck out of most people with your singing but...go for it... Dang, we got to get more people jumping in here with better idea's...mine suck..:p |
I agree with jencar, your comments are hilarious! There are royalty free sites, and I think some of the classical selections really seem right for certain videos, they almost sound like a movie sound track. Royalty Free Music How about Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy? I can just see your dogs rollicking in the snow with that music. |

Wouldn't it be awesome to have Eddie, Rusty, Jillie and Jackson all on the big screen?! Maybe it's a long shot, as I'm sure there's gonna be some GREAT entries, but it's fun to try! I thought of an idea earlier of having Jackson dreaming about hot dogs or some kind of food... and then going into a dream "sequence" of him attempting to find hot dogs and in the process doing some tricks, etc. I still don't really know though! |

Go Yorkies! They'll want to do a full movie of our pups once they see our vids! Marmaduke can play during the credits ;) |
Alright, well, I finally made one yesterday. I posted it on my YouTube. The only thing is, I wouldn't call it 'funny' so with 50% being judged on humor, I just don't know. I'm still trying to think of something a bit funnier to do before the contest is over. |

Good luck! See ya at the premiere! ;) |
Oh, Britster, I see USA today's blog used this video as a promo. Yours is better than that! It's cute, but it's the same trick over and over. |

I HATE hearing myself talk, LOL... and I've had a cold for the past few weeks that makes it worse, but oh well! We both kicked that basketball playing dog's butts (and Eddie does it better, anyways! ;)) |
