Baby shower ideas Well first of all I am GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!! YEAYYY!!! My brother and his wife are going to have a baby!! :D I told them I would plan the baby shower!! She doesnt find out the sex until Feb 25th.. and she is going to have the shower around April. I am going to pay for most of it, I was wondering if anyone new of any cute cheap game ideas and also game prizes ideas?? Also like a gift ideas for the women who come to the shower... Thanks! |
I have seen a lot of 'interesting' things at baby showers. Here's some ideas, some good, some bad, but just to get you thinking Gift for mom to be -diaper cake all the way!! Games to play- blindfold baby food taste test AND the one where everyone writes down one piece of advice for the mom to be Gifts for guests - diapers made into little 'purses' and filled with hershey's kisses That's all I've got for now - if something looks interesting, google it. :) |
I just went to a baby shower today. One game they had was 10 different items in a brown paper bag and they passed each bag around and you had to guess what baby item was in the bag. Some items were nail clippers, pacifier, brush, q-tips, comb, baby powder etc. It was fun. They also talked about Guess the Diaper! That is where you take a candy bar and cut it up or melt it and put it into a diaper and you have to walk by the "dirty" diaper and guess what kind of candy bar it was. LOL. Hilarious! |
If I were you, I would go out and buy 'The Everything Baby Shower Book.' I bought it for my first shower (my mom and I planned it together) and it was the best! Now that I have three babies, that's the best that I've found. But just some of the things that I did: games: the you can't say the word baby game: you get ribbon and plastic baby pacifiers (from the party store, they're tiny, not real ones) and make necklaces. All of the guests get one when they arrive, and when you hear someone say the word "baby" you get to take their necklace(s). The person with the most necklaces at the end of the shower wins! The bottle drinking game: fill 6-8 bottles with 4 oz. of juice and have guests volunteer themselves (don't tell them what they're volunteering for!). Whoever drinks all of their juice first wins! The baby items game: You fill a tray up with lots of baby items (diaper, pacifier, safety pins, wipes, spoons, etc) and walk through the guests, giving each of them just a few seconds to see what's on the tray. Then you hide the tray from view and give the women paper and pencil, and whoever remembers the most items that were on the tray and writes them down wins! The present game: I took a gift card and wrapped it up in so many rolls of wrapping paper, and made it into a huge ball. This is kind of a take on musical chairs. Wile the music is playing the guests pass the ball around (everyone needs to be in a circle) and when it stops, whoever has the gift gets to try and rip off as much paper as possible. When the music starts again, they have to keep passing it along. Whoever ends up getting to the gift card first wins! There are lots more games, but I just can't remember. An easy gift to give everyone is to get little bags and fill them up with pink or blue M&Ms or some other candy is nice. I went out and got $10.00 gift cards for the winners of the games (I had no more than 4 games, you don't want overkill!), at Victoria's Secret, Borders, Starbucks, and Wal-Mart (I tried to think of places that most all women shop at!). Sorry this is so long... good luck! |
Just went to a baby shower Saturday night. 1. They "dressed" a baby with toliet paper. It was hilarious. The winner was done up really well, baby bonnet, rattle, diaper (dirty and all). 2. They handed out a piece of paper with all the letters of the alaphabet and you had to write something that related to babies with that letter. 3. At a shower that I gave, I did a word scramble with 20 words. 4. We also did the items on a tray where you had to write down the items. 5. Ribbon, toliet paper around the belly. 6. What the mommy to be had on when she came into the shower. Also, the last 2 showers I attended, each guess who brought a package of diapers recieved a raffle ticket for a prize. (Mommy gets lots of diapers that way. :)) Prizes can range from Yankee Candles, bath & body work stuff, cute note cards--I made up a couple of sets that I stamped so it didn't cost very much, you can get a pack of 50 note cards at Michales for $5 or $10 depending on the sales. For a prize, one shower wrapped a package of popcorn (instead of chocolate bars) and wrote something like, (Name of mommy) is about to pop, so join her in popping up a batch of popcorn. I thought it was really cute, the wrapper had the baby shower them on it--that is a really inexpensive souvenier. Good luck and have a lot of fun! |
Ohhhh wonderful ideas!! How am I suppose to pick lol all of them are great!! Thanks guys |
This is one of the best games I've seen. When everyone sits down for the mom-to-be to open gifts play this game first. Mom-to-be doesn't play though. Get a box that a diaper would easily fit into. Wrap it in 7 or 8 layers of different paper. Have everyone sit as much as possible in a circle. Tell them that there is a diaper in the box (clean), there are several layers of different wrapping paper on the box. When the music starts you are to pass the box to the person to your right and keep passing until the music stops. Whoever has the box then unwraps one layer of paper. Start the music up again and repeat until the last layer is taken off. Whoever has the box at that time must then wear the diaper on her head for the rest of the party. But what's really inside is a corsage for the Mom-to-be and the person who ends up with the box gets to pin it on her. It was hysterical to watch how quickly people were throwing that box to the next person, no one wanted to be stuck with it. Then the relief on the face of the person who takes that last layer of paper off, when she sees it's a corsage it priceless. |
Congrats!!! I LOVE being an aunt. Another idea I have seen at recent baby showers is send a note with the invitation requesting a book instead of a card. Most people put cards up and never look at them again, you can get a book for about the same price. (As a teacher, I love this idea:D) One shower used bunny washcloths decorations and as favors. They looked something like this: http://www.creative-baby-shower-idea...edbunnies1.jpg Good Luck! |
congrats!! Here is a wonderful site that I used planning my daughters shower.Big Dot of Happiness - Making life's occasions fun. It's about time. |
Thanks guys! I know I cant wait to be an Aunt!! I am super excited!! I think about it alllllll the time!! :D |
Have all of the guests come dressed pregnant too. It's hysterical to see and give a gift to the funniest or best pregnant guest. |

I am going to be an aunt again too, WHOOP WHOOP... my sister is going to be having a baby in Sept!! I am very excited... Its her 3rd baby so I am wanting to plan a "Come meet... new baby's name here... Party!!" At showers I have been too there have been several fun games... the one I liked the most was the present game... it goes like this... The hostest usualy buys a present for baby... so the new mom ends up with the present in the end . The fun of the game is no one knows who this is going to end up getting the gift... You wrap the present 5 or 6 times and on each layer you have a little saying something like... 1st layer... Is this a present for the baby? Lets see, Pass this to the grandma to be. (If both are there then they can both open it) 2nd layer... Isn't it grand to be a grandmother, What was your reaction when you first heard the news? (they tell there story) Please pass this to the nearest person wearing blue... 3rd layer... To the lady in blue, What kind of advise to you have for the mama to be? Please pass this to the eldest in the room. 4th layer... To the eldest in the room, Remember when you had kids? Pass on your wisdom to the new mama. Please pass this to the youngest in the room. 5th layer... To the youngest in the room, Now that it's your turn, can you guess who this might be going too? Please pass to the mama to be... 6th layer... CONGRATULATIONS... (new mama's name here) We love you and wish you the best of luck with your new bundle of joy. This was a fun game when we played it... There was much laughter involved!! |
