Prayers and hope I feel so bad for the families in Haiti struck by the earthquake i cant even begin to imagine how scared and hurt they must be to have lost everything they had which wasnt alot compared to the simple luxuries we have in the US... id just like to send them our prayers and hope that everything will be ok ... God please watch over the families in Haiti guide them and give them strength may we help and love one another through this hard time and to the ones we lost may they rest peacefully in Jesus Christ name we pray amen. |
I feel so bad for them. That had to be horrific. They will be in my prayers tonight. |
It is almost beyond comprehension :(. People TRAPPED in ruins / rubble. No water, no food, no communications, no medical supplies, no power. Already so impoverished. Air strips still closed. Just for perspective: out of the 45,000 US citizens who live there - only 100 have been located. Not that US citizens are the *important* ones - but it just gives you perspective on how horrible things are right now. I hope they can get relief in there STAT. I think the air strips may open in the morning. |
Oh, I feel sick just watching it. They need nurses and doctors and I so wish I could go there to help. I saw people bleeding..no medical help. Just so depressing. And all of the bodies...Those poor people. The fact that no one can lift the concrete if they hear someone. By the time they get equipment there to help it will probably be too late. Just so tragic. Certainly makes any problems I have seem like a fly on an elephant. All of it is just, as you said Ann, beyond comprehension. |
Its all so sad. They are all in my prayers. |
Definitely has been weighing heavily on my mind as well. Prayers and hope continue to go out to all affected. :hands: |
So sad, I don't even have words to express.... only prayers. |

My church has helped sponsor a school there and we have not been able to make contact with any of our missionaries there. We have heard, not officially, the school is gone and many of the children are dead. I keep seeing their little faces in the videos they've made for us and sent back with missionaries. These children are soooooo delighted with the smallest of things. I have not been able to witness it first hand, but to see pictures and videos of these babies SO excited to have a bowl of plain rice for lunch at school, instead of the regular mud cookies tears at your heart. God, please help these people. |
The numbers that are being presented to us are hard to even comprehend. My thoughts and prayers are with all who are involved - victims and rescue workers alike. |

The UPS website says this: Service to Haiti suspended; UPS provides aid http://www.ups.com/img/1.gifService Update UPS is providing financial support and emergency logistics assistance to help survivors of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. We are working with relief organizations to transport much needed supplies and food to the area. If you wish to donate to the relief efforts, UPS encourages you to work directly with the following organizations: The American Red Cross - www.redcross.org CARE - www.care.org UNICEF - www.unicef.org UPS is not accepting shipments from individuals or local organizations due to the logistics challenges in Haiti. Service will resume as soon as conditions allow. Shipments to Haiti made prior to the earthquake are temporarily being held at UPS facilities in Miami. The UPS package guarantee does not apply when transportation networks are disrupted. |
Thank you very much for the update i had gotten the info i posted from a news site but i guess things have changed because the roads and streets are blocked with cars, trees, bodies and daubery they say its difficult to get the supplies to where they are needed so its about strategy... I will continue to watch the news and see if there are any new ways to help. Quote:

It is just so unbelievably tragic. |
We too have lost many Canadians. One woman who was a Nurse from Almira( a small town here in Ontario) had just landed in Haiti doing Volunteer work & she has died also. Almira is an area that is considered farm land. They have an excellent second hand book store that my husband & I often frequent. We have been going there for years & a percentage of the money raised at the book store goes to Haiti. For years these people have been going there, providing computers, books, & other supplies to the locals of Haiti. So our prayers are with these families & all the people of Haiti who have lost loved ones. Peace:sun::angel2dl: |
