Any Quilters out there? 1 Attachment(s) Just want to know if anyone else does quilting, and to share my latest project. This is one block. The pattern is called Milky Way. Attachment 303885 |
That is so pretty!!! I haven't quilted in a couple of years, need to start a new quilt top. Do you sew by hand or machine? I am a machine quilter. I usually piece the top and then take it to a lady in town who machine quilts it for me. I will have to find some pics of some of my quilts. I love fabric and working with it. I can't wait to see that quilt finished. Keep posting pics!!!!! |
Thank You. I machine sew the top, then just tie it. I my sister sends hers to a lady to be quilted. I might do that with this one. I just started quilting 2 years ago, and so far I have not done any that I considered nice enough to warrant the cost of having it quilted. |
Enjoy quilting, but also love to knit. Your Milkyway is gorgeous. Right now I am working on a pair of merino "heather" socks, on dbl.pointed needles. Very fun.. |

They sound pretty though. |
I quilt country style, LOL. I mean old time, patchwork for our beds and knot them. My grandmother held quilting bees when I was a kid. My mom and I quilted together alot, but I haven't been back at it since I lost her...but I'm thinking this my be the year. Funny, growing up I never have had a blanket on my beds and to this day, I still don't. I piece the tops and then hand quilt. Like I said, for our beds, I knot them...much faster and I love knotting. I love the Milkyway, pretty colors. I was checking that out and made a little drawling....maybe that will be the one to get me started back.:D |
That's beautiful! I really like that pattern. We recently sold two Aust. Shep. puppies to a lady in Germany. She was going to come pick them up but then got a blood clot in her leg so she sent her ranch assistant. This young lady had never been in the States before so I took her shopping and sight seeing while she was here. Toward the end of our day she mentioned how much she loved old quilts. Well, by that time it was too late to find anything still open to try to find one (and besides, I don't think it would have fit in her luggage anyway). When we got home I showed her all of the ones we have - my grandma made me one that I kept on my bed most of my childhood and my hubby's grandma has made us a few. I have some that were machine done and some that were hand quilted. She loved the hand quilted ones the best (as do I). I told her that I'm surprised that all the German women around here do quilting but not the German women in Germany! She's looking forward to another visit to the States and this time I told her we would find her a quilt to take back. Her appreciation and admiral of my quilts made me appreciate them even more. :) |
Jeanie, that is really pretty!! I love quilts...my grandmother used to make them and now that she is gone, they are even more special. |
That is really pretty. My MIL is a quilter. She does both machine, and by hand. She is a quilt marker too for herself and others. She always has a quilt set up and I am always amazed at her work. Just beautiful. The couple I have from her are cherished pieces of art. |
That is really pretty! I am a wannabee quilter. My friend has been trying to get me to quilt for years! I actually have a quilt top kit that I purchased...just gotta find the time. She is having me do a log cabin to start off with and then go on to other patterns from there. I am a crocheter-I used to make and sell things, mainly baby items. :) I hope to try my hand at crochet dog sweaters one day. :) |

Here are two sites with plenty of free patterns. I find it a nice way to keep busy during the winter. Block of the Month - Home Page Quilt Blocks Galore! |
1 Attachment(s) I never completed an entire quilt but I did collect antique quilts for years...I also did restoration, repair and cleaning. Here are a few of mine that I had...not all of them because we collected for almost 30 years...but a few. At one time we had over 400 quilts in our home. I've sold them all now except for the family quilts but I did keep some antique fabric from the mid to late 1800's because you just never know when you might need some! ;) |

I haven't tried anything besides, squares and triangles. |

My ultimate goal (and hopes) is a lone star quilt. A really big one for a wall hanging for a 2 story foyer wall that I have. I can always dream. ;) |
