I have gotten gifts I dont like before, but I really just try and be happy that someone gave me anything and thought of me at all. If it is a gift that is nice but I wouldnt personally use, I will put it away to be "re-gifted" if I think it would be appropriate for someone I know... Many times I will offer it to someone I know can use it, tell them the truth... that it was a gift however, I cannot use it and thought they might like it... otherwise I will try and donate it if possible. Although it is annoying when you put a lot of thought into someones gift and they give you something that was obviously thoughtless (like a photo of themselves! seriously?) :p |
Last year my dtr gave a pic of herself and the person she was giving it to with a frame that a message on it. For example the one for my mom said I love my grandma. Everyone loved it, but no way was she going to do that again this year. |

I love every gift I get, just to think someone thought of me makes it pretty special, however, it is really sad when they have taken the time to shop and pick out something they think you will like and its the wrong size. Every year before I shop for clothes I phone and ask the sizes, just in case something has changed. My sister in law, who has wonderful taste picked me out a pants outfit 2 sizes larger than I wear (ouch) shes pretty good at the size guessing game!!! But also purchased a necklace and earings from a craft show. I commited on the size to my husband and he stated well I know a pretty good seemstress, as I can sew some I guess I'll have to alter it. She also knows I', petite and its about 5 inches to long and I HATE to hem. Oh well, its the thought that counts. But my point is if its the wrong size after Christmas the chance of getting the same thing is pretty slim. I'd rather be sure. my best present this year-my daughter crocheted me a toboggen and scarf set!!!! beautiful |
This post is from Joey, my worst present this year was from my human sister, she and her new husband got me a snuggy, in PINK!!!!!!!!!! Oh well it's Ok because real males can wear PINK!!!! Right!!!! Think I'll put in a pink hairbow to match to wear to their New Years Eve party!!! Teach them... ha ha |
The best present my husband received was from Joey's human sister, Yeah, the same one that got the pink snuggy, was a photo of his parents. She took a photo from several years ago and enlarged it to an 8X10 and framed it. We lost his dad 2 yrs ago and his mother 13 months ago. It really touched him that she would think of doing this for him. Great gift. |
i got a calendar from last year!!!!!!....LOL |
]i got a calendar from last year!!!!!!....LOL[/QUOTE] Ouch, that's got to be the worst one I've heard of, you seem to have taken it very well. Hopefully, it's one of the best years you have had and they were just wanting you to have the calendar to remember it by!! HA HA!!!!!!! |

I had to laugh about the pink snuggy - do you know there's a group of people that actually get together and club hop all wearing snuggies ? They call it the 'Snuggy Pub Crawl' maybe Joey can join them :D |

OK I just have to share this one. One year my husband worked at a manafacturing company and they got a skid of TFal irons in, the freight company wouldn't pick them up and told them to just give them away. Well a bunch of guys wouldn't even think of taking their wife a iron home. Mine brought about 12 of them home. We gave everyone an iron. My DH decided to give my mom one for Christmas. I told him she wouldn't like it because she hated to iron, well the thought it would be cute. Her face was PRICELESS It's the only time my mom looked dissapointed with my DH. She now says, "Oh, I use it all the time" with a big smile! HE!! HE!!! |

By BFs sister is a very thoughtful generous person.... but she is broker than broke and just about a week ago told me that her hubby got laid off again and they can't afford the rent anymore, they are going to start looking to move somewhere cheaper and she is sooo sad. Ok I feel so bad for her, but then for Xmas she went and filled stockings for all the adults in the family with stuff from the dollar store (even though we did a swap for 1 nice gift for each other), like an oil diffuser, lotion and body spray that smell horrible and other little cheapy things like that. The thought is sweet and she is very generous to do that, but please... it must have cost her about $50 to do that and NONE of us needed those little things. I wish she would have saved her money to pay her bills! |

My Mother in law shops at the dollar stores and good wills and she does find some nice clothes for my daughter but the things she gets for me I either dont need or dont want. I wish she would just save her money because she really doesnt have it to spend it |

My MIL got all her granddaughters adorable leather jackets!! There are 4 girls ages 15, 15, 17, and 20. All the girls are very thin and petite, but the oldest obviously is a bit bigger. When she was shopping she called to ask what size and I told her if in doubt to get the oldest a Medium. Well they all open their packages, and they are all smalls! When the 20 year old tried it on she was obviously having trouble even getting it on, but did eventually. Standing next to the other three hers was obviously tight and short and too small. Then, MIL says, "oh good they all fit!" The jacket cannot be returned/exchanged. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to cause a problem especially since it cannot be returned, but it hurt my feelings that she didn't/couldn't/refused to realize it is too small and MIL is a skilled seamstress!!!! |

I asked many friends to donate to this cause instead of giving me and boy that felt good for me and for them: Advent Conspiracy If anyone will care to check it out! It may be just a suggestion for your next holiday season . It will be a new tradition for me and the friends we introduced to ... i was introduced to it me by friends who do not even share the same religion beliefs i do ! |
