Ever make a candy house from scratch? They are so beautiful and so much fun for the young as well as the adult's. I made one last weekend with my two young granddaughter's. It came out so beautiful I couldn't wait to post pictures. My computer died yesterday at home!:( and I couldn't post pictures. Anyone want to help me out with these. I have them on my work computer as well but I can't resize on this one. If anyone is interested in the recipe I'll share. It so much fun. You need a base board of ply wood, cardboard boxes, decide what size house you want, cut it out, make a roof, chimney, add lights around by taping them and house to base. Have a theme in your mind, shop for the supplies, and icing it like a cake! Marshmallows for a fence with peppermint sticks orbit gum for bricks and your could really go nut's with it. Hope someone can post these pictures for me. I'd love to share. |
That's cool. thanks for sharing..i have always wanted to make one of those. I've seen them do some awesome ones on The food network. |
I tried once years ago... now I just cheat and buy the precut ones for the kids. They love doing it and make one every year. We were working on one last night when I had to run out and pick up hubby.. tractor stopped another story... and they had hot glued the roof together because they said it wouldn't stick. lol |

Awwww thanks for the memories...... When the kids were young we lived in New Mexico and made a "cookie adobe village" complete with luminaries and "stained glass windows made out of melted hard candies. We had a blast with it -- the house was lit with small candles and the light sparkled through the windows. |

Cindy, that must have been beautiful! Love crafts, any pictures? You can really get carried away with these. I took a little short cut and didn't get too crazy. With an 8yr and 3yr old it was important to keep them occupied and not for too long. Patti is going to do her best to see if she can post pictures. Guess I'll be buying myself a Christmas present, AFTER CHRISTMAS, a new computer:( |
Carol send me the pics and I'll resize and post them for you to this thread. Send me a PM and I'll send you my email address! I really want to see the pics, it sounds really neat!!! :) |
I can't wait to see the pics!! :) We make them every year with a woman from church. She makes the gingerbread from scratch then we go over and put everything together. It's so fun. :) Sadly, she and her husband are moving to Utah after the new year, so this was the last time. :( |

Christina, thank you so very much for posting those pictures for me. That was very nice of you to take the time to do that. I really appricitate it. Your awsome:thumbup: And Patti, thank you also girl. It's the thought that counts. I hope you all like it, it was so much fun putting this together with the two girls. See the mouse ears? Their Disney fans and of course ears had to be displayed somewhere so Nicole put them there. Thanks again girls for your help, couldn't have done it without you. |
That's so neat!! I've never even seen one in person, let alone tried to make one. I bet that was fun! |
You are welcome Carol! I love the pics and the concept, how fun! :) |
I love it!!! Great job! |
Oh how cute! I bet the kids had a blast helping. Hummmm looks like there was lots of taste testing to be done. I miss those days so much. With three kiddos, we were always cooking up something special, but unfortunately I am not much of a picture taker. :D |
I have bought one before but Ive never tried to make one. Might try one of those kits next year |
