One of Two Dogs Dumped in Canal Dies

Reward offered for animal abuser's capture.

Riverside - An animal rights organization announced a $500 reward for information leading to whoever taped shut the snouts of two Chihuahuas and dumped them in a canal on Monday, killing one of the animals.

The Chihuahuas, a male and a female, were found shortly after 11 a.m. in a canal near Cridge Street and Olivewood Avenue, according to John Welsh, information officer with the Riverside Count Department of Animal Services.

"This was just complete malice," said animal services Officer Kristina Hillegaart.

A metal grate used to trap debris from flowing into the watershed kept the dogs from traveling downstream, Welsh said.

The 15-pound male, believed to be about a year old, did not survive. The female, which appears to be 3 years old and weighs about 7pounds, is
recuperating at the shelter, Welsh said.

"This is just disgusting that someone would do something like this to innocent, defenseless animals," said Animal Services Director Robert Miller.

The reward is being offered by Animal Solutions Konnection, a charitable organization associated with the Riverside County shelter in Riverside.

That is so sad, and it makes me angry that there are sooooooo many idiots out there that do these sort of things to poor lil helpless dogs, it just breaks my heart to hear news like this, I hope those people are found, if it were me giving the punishment to those people it would be mutual.:mad:

Whenever they find whoever... they need to suffer the same fate that they thought for some reason that they had the power or right to force onto those two little soals... poor babies... I hope that little girly finds a good loving home... and she isnt forced into a bath too often... (epic falure to atempt to lighten the mood on my responce...)

Omg reading this formed tears around my eyes. this is disturbing how people can have the heart to do this...*sigh* I PRAY and HOPE they find the murderer!!

I hope they catch the little BSTD (s) and do the same thing to them! People really suck sometimes. :mad:
