Always been POP here,,in Ohio. |
I call it Soda :) |
I call it "coke" or "drink" never soda or pop. |
It's always POP here....To me Soda sounds so old country...like something my old granny from Missouri would say..interesting.. |
Ok this has always been a popular question around here. I was raised in the south my family(mom's and dad's family) are all up north. They all call it pop, although if my uncle asks if you want a pop the answer is always no otherwise he will hit you. Everyone down here says they say coke but I don't understand that either. Really I've never heard anyone ask do you want a coke, then I say yes, then they ask what kind. Its always been a little stange because I've always heard that that's what the southerns say, "coke", but I've never actually heard them say it. I've lived all over the south, NC, GA, AL, and been everywhere else TN, SC, MS. So I'm not calling you liars if you said that you say coke but do you really say it? I'm really asking again not calling you liars, I really want to know. Oh and by the way I say drink, or will specifically ask if they want something like do you want a glass of water, do you want a coke, do you want a dr. pepper, whatever we have. |
I call it coke, even though I drink Pepsi  |
soda it is... all the way soda... pop, thats what my dad it... |

pop in Ohio |
I grew up in the mountains of Southwest VA and it is pop there. My husband still calls it pop sometimes. Now we live outside of Atlanta and I call it by whatever brand that I want. If we go to a buffet where you help yourself I will say soda. Never really thought about this before. Interesting thread. |
This is funny how this is different depending on where you live. I have never heard anyone call it soda or coke only pop. |

My dad always said pop. No matter what kind he was talking about. |
It's all coke to me! Don't know why but I love pepsi. That's a southerner for ya! |
Coke here too.. even though I drink Dr. Pepper. I've rarely heard anyone in Texas say soda or pop.. and the ones I have heard say those two weren't native Texans. :p |
It drives me nuts when I order a "coke" and restaurant clerks say "Is Pepsi OK?" Of COURSE it's OK. It's the same darned thing! It drove me so crazy, I started asking for "cola." But the numbskulls still say "All we have is coke" or "Is Pepsi OK?" Duh! |
It's a soda pop! |
Soda to me... Sometimes I hear people saying cola!! |
SODA here! Most of my family is from the south where I mostly heard them say COKE, no matter what they were drinking. And to try and find a Pepsi down there was a scavenger hunt in itself. And the other side of my family in NY calls it POP which has always driven me crazy!! The real question is............. Coke vs. Pepsi??? OR Diet Coke vs. Diet Pepsi??? DIET PEPSI!!!!!  |
Okay...carbonated beverage it is!! |
YEah, you know somteimes I jsut call is a beverage..I don't drink much pop anymore so it's normally a beverage... |
I live in Oklahoma where most people call it Pop i however call it Soda |

Chicago REPRESENT! :) Tell hubby to teach your kids to call it "pop" :D |
Pop! But I live in Canada...... and no matter where I've gone across Canada I've never heard anyone up here call it soda.... just in movies and on TV. |
