Do not buy Petsafe products they lie So i also have a newfoundland and she needed a shock trainer collar. Well it stoped working, now mind you i paid more for it at petsmart due to the package stating lifetime warrenty, i even asked salesman at petsmart about it and he said yeah they will fix or replace it for nothing the entire time i own it. Cool, now i called today due to it not working after i changed batteries and check everything over, so i want them to replace or fix it. They stated it was a limited lifetime warrenty and mine isnt covered? Really package states limetime and now they want $80 just to send it to them so they can tell me what is wrong. the $80 doesnt cover them fixxing it, and i also have to send them prepaid shipping for them to ship it back to me? Please read this package and tell me ifi am wrong.. any input would be great, also i dont use it on the dog she knows when it is on what it will do and she just needs to wear it.. I am not abusive..LOL.. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...oparts/001.jpg |
Wow, the cost to fix it seems excessively high. What type of problem are you having? I really don't like the shock collars, and it seems like for those who do want to use them, they should only be used as a training aid, not continually for the rest of the dog's life. If you have been using this for several years and he still needs to wear the collar to behave, I would say he's not learning the right things. Have you thought of consulting with a dog trainer? I don't mean to be criticizing you, I understand that you need some behavior changed, but I think I would look for something that's more effective, and humane. Studies do show that overly aversive punishment can lead to other disturbing behaviors. While shock isn't considered extremely painful, I think it falls under the category of extremely aversive. I mean would you want to get shocked in order to manipulate your behavior? Perhaps posting a thread in the training forum might lead you to better choices. |
I didn't realize they had a lifetime warranty. I have the wireless fence system and just had to buy my dog a new collar becasue his fell apart. At that price (to fix it) I don't guess it would have mattered if I had known there was a warranty because a new collar ran $139. By the time I paid all of those fees it would have been the same as buying a new one anyway. |
