Life changing attitude! I love it!!

I work with this guy who is a total JERK. I mean a real sour, dumb person. He is pathetic too... no ambition in life, 43 lives at home with mom still, his mom paid off his vehicle and he has 2 associates degrees which he says equals a BA degree (uuumm NOT!) he has worked here for like 25 years or something and you can tell that this place is his social life, he would be too afraid to leave here and he puts up with so much crap from our boss because he is afraid to get laid off or fired. He has a problem with me because Ive only been here 5 years, I tell him to cut the crap when he gets started on whatever small stupid thing he goes on and I call him out on his attitude. I had no time for his crap. I sit beside him and I can't stand him! Makes for a LONG day.

One day I called my mom to vent to her because he was soo bad that day and I realized that his name is the same name as my Dad (my moms EX husband) and the same as my EX fiance!!! How ironic!!!! LOL

Hang in there!!! I don't know how you are handling it or planning to handle it, but I am looking for a new job. I have other issues with this place and it's a long commute from my house, so a new job is definately the way for me to go but maybe not for you. How are you handling it?

It's hard for me to be nice to her after all that crap she gave me, but I'm handling it. She is the one looking for a new job 'cause this one is far from her house. I just live a round the corner from work.
I'm showing her that her attitude and behavior aren't going to bring me down. Her bitterness is not contagious.

As a counselor with many clients that struggle with the concept of "forgive and forget" I have found having them rephrase that to "remember and reconcile" makes it easier to examine why that person/situation bothers them so. We remember that someone has "burned" us to prevent it from happening again -- survival/defense system at work. Of course there's more to all that thought change process, but rephrasing is a start.
