Hurricane Rita as strong as Katrina 22 September 2005 GALVESTON: Hurricane Rita took aim at Texas as it grew into a powerful Category 4 storm overnight, and authorities urged residents of Houston and most of the state's coastline to evacuate. it is now a category 5 ! some people dont pray but for the people that do post your prayers here they all need a Guardian Angel right now Daily Prayer to Guardian Angel Angel of God My guardian dear To Whom His love Commits me here Ever this day Be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide. Thanks, Lenora. Yes, it's a category 5 and is expected to hit Port Lavaca which is 30 minutes from here. We're all praying....very hard. |

Thank you Lenora - this storm IS a big one - we have to think positive that people did learn from Katrina and I think the smart ones in dangerous areas aren't taking ANY chances - but it IS scary knowing it's headed straight for us. |
Isn't everyone in Housto evacuating now? I thought I heard it was a mandatory evacuation. :confused: |

This is a serious hurricane. I stayed when Andrew which was also a 5. I will never forget how scared we were. Please just leave and find shelter. |
