Cats have fleas!!! Hello YT, My fiance and I adopted a kitten and we didn't notice at first but the kitten had fleas and transferred them over to our 2 year old cat Tiger. He has sooo many fleas!!! We used Frontline but it is not working. Is advantage any good on cats and what would be the quickest way to get these fleas to die and all their eggs so they don't go all over the carpet?? Advice please! Thank you |
When My daughter brought home a kitten and it had fleas I gave her several dawn baths and got rid of them. You can use flea preventatives but you have to use one made for cats. Good luck I hate fleas |
I have posted several times a recipe from a holistic vet for flea, tick and insect repellent. I'm sure it would work on a cat as well...I will post it again... 15 drops of peppermint oil to 1 cup of water put in a spray bottle and shake...spray on a rag or towel then wipe down the animal, making sure you get around the neck, belly and under the legs try to get it as close to the skin as possible..My Mom uses this on her little Maltipoo who has extremely thick hair...she can not get it to her skin so she just wipes down her coat...she hasn't had 1 flea or tick on her! And you can use it everyday if you have to...do not spray directly on the animal. |
I gave up on frontline. I tried many other things for my 2 cats, but nothing worked. My last resort was Promeris. Its a new flea drop like frontline, but has different chemicals. (You have to get it at a vet's office.) It worked beautifully within 2 days. Its been 2 weeks and I haven't seen a flea on them yet. I also switched my dogs to Revolution because frontline and advantage wasn't working for them. |
Thank you evryone will try everything ..Cant wait for these fleas to leave! |

I'd be hesitant to use peppermint oil (or any essential oil) on a cat. peppermint oil cats - Google Search I think I would contact your vet about what to use. |

Hey Yoon Fleas stay on the pet only 20% of the time, so even if you put Frontline, the fleas are probably jumping on & off them all the time. It takes 3 consecutive applications once a month to get it to work effectively (even tho it says every 3 months for fleas, I think). You need to treat the house, bomb it & vaccume the carpets, that's where they hide & lay the eggs. It's flea season right now, so when they go outside, I see fleas jumping on them! Eeeew |
