What did I know? Ok so I decided to wash my mini van. There were some black specks of dirt that I couldn't get off. I get a scotch bright green spongy thing for teflon pans. You know the rest..... Now I have scratches all over my car. My husband is not happy. I didn't know it would scratch. It doesn't scratch teflon who would think it would scratch my paint. I know I'm a dummy. I guess my dh could try to compound out the scratches. Now my van is nice and clean but all scratched up grrrrrrrrr  I was going to wash my daughters car while I was out there. She has a yellow VW Bug. Thank goodness I didn't do it. |
If you know someone that has a automotive buffer, the scratches should come out that way. My hubby custom paints Harley Davidson motorcycles and has had to buff out a many paint jobs. |
I feel your pain, not to long ago, a friend's daughter, trying to earn points with her dad ( to let her go to a concert ;)) decided to wash his recently painted 69 convertible Camaro ,...the car still has the scratches, and she's still grounded ...did I mention she never went to that concert...??? |
The black specks are particles of tar from the road surface, you can get a small can of tar remover , gets them off a treat and then polish after. |
Oh the scotch brite pad worked great!!! Took off those black spots very easily!! |
Um don't ask me how I know this but...don't use magic erasers on car paint either. |
Coke or Pepsi work quite nicely if you want to take tar off of your car.:D |
Do you have pictures of that magic eraser clean job? Im betting the paint was almost gone! That thing is DANGEROUS!!! |
A good buffing should take care of the scratches... but thanks for the tip... I would have so did the same thing.lol |
FYI: never use dishwasher soap on cars either. You can also damage the paint that way. No I didn't do that. My boyfriend's little sister washed his new Mustang wish dish soap... let's just say poor Mustang. |
